throughout the rest of the week. See the full schedule below and sign

up for a journal at www.stceciliaparish.org/advent.

The events will also be livestreamed at

John the Baptist’s call to repentance is echoed in

    the U.S. bishop’s pastoral letter on stewardship;

“Christians must beg God for the grace of conversion: the grace

to know who they are, to whom they belong, how they are to

live—the grace to repent and change and grow, the grace to

    become good disciples and stewards.”

    Marriage Corner

“John [the Baptist] appeared in the desert proclaiming a

baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.” (Mk 1;4)

The sacraments are essential to the Christian life. Encourage

your spouse to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation

regularly. Participation in this sacrament will strengthen not

only your relationship with God, but your relationship with

    your spouse.

    Retired Religious Collection 2020

    Annual Appeal, December 12/13

Help our elders. In good times and bad, senior Catholic sisters,

brothers, and religious order priests have dedicated

themselves to service and acts of mercy. Today, they pray for

an aching world. Yet years of serving for little or no pay have

left their religious communities without enough retirement

savings. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps

provide medications, nursing care, and other necessities.

Please be generous next weekend with this annual appeal.

Hi! I’m Tana Tesdall. This is my tenth year of teaching technology at

St. Cecilia and my 3rd year of teaching ESL here. I love the family feeling of being at

    St. Cecilia!

I also direct the children’s choir at Collegiate United Methodist Church, though we’re

currently on a Covid hiatus. I grew up in Dubuque and have degrees from Iowa

State University and Graceland University. In my free time you will probably see me

at Ada Hayden with my camera, photographing wildlife. My other passion is creative

    cooking and baking.

    Faith Formation Classes

    are cancelled for K-8 until

    the week of December 13.

    EDGE and all HS ministries

    Ames Alternative Gift Market

    Let an Alternative Gift, mailed

and delivered to the doorstep of

a loved one or friend, be your

personal visit to them this year.

An Alternative Gift is a charita-

ble donation given in the name

of the gift recipient to one of 30

    international/national agencies

and seven local organizations. You receive a card and insert,

that explains the mission of the agency you have chosen,

which you mail to your friend or loved one. You can match

the charity with a cause you know your gift recipient cares

about. There is additional information at

www.alternativegifts.org. Shopping lists are available on

the Social Justice bulletin board at the entrance to the wor-

ship space. Also catalogs are available on the tables there.

The shopping list has the information you need to safely

    donate.

This week’s EDGE night is Masterpiece, and our big question

is: If God exists, how does that change my life? Join us online

from 2-3:30pm to find out more. Hope to see you there!

All high school students are invited to join at 7pm on Dec. 6

at St. Cecilia for Hurry Up & Wait: Docility to the Holy

Spirit, a Life Night about finding your role in the Kingdom of

God. This is part of our continuing Downside Up series on

discernment of personal vocation. Please join us and bring a

friend and a mask! Watch anchorames.com for

announcements about whether we are virtual or in person.
