St. Max Students Headed to Mars! In September 2019, St. Max Fifth Grade class began a year long project — to figure out a way to go to Mars in their lifetime. As part of our STEAM curriculum, students planned and built their own Martian colony, problem solving solutions for strength, waste, food, fuel, health and much more. Students worked together, researching and calculating the size and location of recycled objects for conversion into their colony. On the first day of school, each student printed a boarding pass from NASA’S website for the Mars 2020 mission which would carry their name to Mars with the rover! A placard commemorating NASA's "Send Your Name to Mars" campaign was installed on the Perseverance Mars rover at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The names of our students were individually stenciled onto chips by electron beam and attached to the placard. The class participated in the contest to name these latest Martian dwellers, called Perseverance and the companion drone, Ingenuity. Although our names were not chosen, we certainly exhibited perseverance and ingenuity in completing our prototype for the Aldrin Cycler and components for our Martian Colony.

St. Maximilian Kolbe Bible Study -- Your Inheritance as a Child of God
Ephesians was one of the most widely circulated of St. Paul’s writings because of its powerful, practical instructions for disciples of Christ. In fact, its six short chapters contain some of the most discussed passages in the New Testament. The Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance study examines several much-discussed themes in today’s Christian culture and society–the nature of marriage, the purpose and role of the Church, the preeminence of grace in God’s plan, and the reality of spiritual warfare. In this 8-session program, presenter Jeff Cavins explores what Paul’s letter to the Ephesians tells us about the nature of the Church-–as a body, as a household, as a mystery, as a communion, as a bride, and as an army. Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance shows the treasures that await us as adopted sons and daughters in the family of God.
This Fall, we will be studying St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians as part of the Ascension Press Great Adventure Series. The program will begin on Monday, the evening of September 14th in the Kolbe Room in the church at 7:00PM. It will last for 9 sessions and each session will last for up to 2 hours. We will make every effort to maintain social distancing for this class and if we have a larger class then anticipated, we will move to a different location. All attendees will wear a mask. If you would like to join us, please sign up at the rectory before August 3rd . The cost will be $29 for the workbook. If you have any questions, please call or text Joe Pizzino at 484 883 8985.
