Dear Parishioners, In order to allow all of our parishioners to have an opportunity to have a Mass Intention for your love ones we are only allowing ONE Mass Intention per month a total of 12 for the year. This decision was made based on some parishioners bringing in a long list of Mass Intentions for the whole year. Also, because we are only allowed to have one Mass Intention for Mass.

The parish office will be closed

January, 21st for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

From the Diocese of Sacramento Office of Worship: The California Department of Public Health reports that the incidences of flu and flu-like illnesses, is widespread and has reached a level requiring that we enact preventive measures to mitigate the possibility of infection at Mass. In order to protect the health and well-being of everyone, Bishop Soto has issued the following directives: * The use of the Communion cup is suspended temporarily. * Receive the Body of Christ in the hand (although receiving on the tonged is permitted) * Do not shake hands. Offer the sign of Peace to those around you with a simple nod, saying “peace be with you.” * Do not hold hands during the Our Father. * Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are to cleanse their hands with alcohol-based antiseptic before and after administering Holy Communion. This also applies to those who take Communion to the home-bound.

The obligation to attend Mass on Sunday and other Holy Days does not apply to those who are sick. If you are sick, stay home and take of yourself. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. And pray for those who are sick. The administration of Holy Communion on both kinds will resume as soon as the Bishop deems it safe and prudent to do so.

Matt Fradd, a best-selling Catholic author, presents new data to show how the changes in the type and accessibility of pornography being promoted today make it far more dangerous and harmful than ever before. Matt draws from a wealth of experience to guide parents in taking decisive action

to protect their children, and he empowers adult specific wording to effectively address this sen-sitive topic with children of all ages before they encounter pornography or after they’ve been exposed to it.

A VISIBLE GOD We find it difficult to convey ideas to people unless we can actually show them something, demonstrate what we mean. God, who is invisible and truly beyond human understanding, apparently faces the same difficulty. People want to see, not just listen to an idea. So God gave us Jesus Christ, God made visible in the world. During these past weeks we have seen how Jesus was revealed as an infant to the shepherds and the magi, and then began his adult public life at his baptism by John. Today's Gospel reading tells us of his first sign, providing wine for the wedding guests at Cana. Of course, even Jesus, God made visible, was not always easily understood in his own day, nor is he even now. So we have to ponder what we see: the poverty and simplicity of his birth, his humility and openness before John the Baptist, his kindness and compassion toward people in their ordinary problems, such as running short of wine at a wedding. Yet it is in coming to know Jesus that we come to know God.
