Church Charge Conference Everyone is welcome and every member has a vote at our Annual Church Charge Conference to be held on Mon, Oct 20 @ 7pm in the Sanctuary. Church Officers will be elected and pastoral salaries will be set for the year.

What is a Church/Charge Conference? The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church requires that each local church hold a church or charge conference annually. This annual conference (church or charge) directs the work of the church

and gives general oversight to the church council and reviews and evaluates the mission and ministry of the church, in addition to other tasks (as appropriate), such as setting salaries for the appointed or assigned pastors, electing church officers, and recommending candidates for ministry. The difference between a church or charge conference is: 1. The charge conference is the basic governing body of each United Methodist local church and is composed of all members of the church council (or administrative board or leadership team. 2. A church conference invites broader participation of the members of the congregation beyond just the church Council members in that all members of a local United Methodist church are invited to attend and are extended the privilege of vote. All members of the charge or church conference must be members of the local church.

Bob Rudy Turns 90 Bob Rudy, a longtime member of FUMC, is turning 90 years young. His children are throwing him a birthday party at First Place, this Sat, Oct 4, from 2-4pm. Everyone is invited to attend and wish Bob a happy 90th birthday! If you cannot attend, cards may be sent to: 1265 Waterbury Rd., Troy.

Do You Know? We have an intercessory prayer group? They meet on Monday mornings in room 311 @ 9:15am. They pray over the prayer cards that are turned in on Sunday mornings and the prayer request that come through the prayer chain. The prayer group is always open to anyone who would like to attend. You will not be asked/expected to pray outloud unless you choose to do so. This is an open group so you can attended whenever you are able. Questions? Contact Evelyn West, 552-9253.

Today’s Anthem “Jesus, At Your Name”

Text: John Parker Music: Mark Hayes

Over all of heaven’s bliss

Jesus chose a birth like this; Laid aside His royal crown,

The Son of mercy traveled down.

No feather bed on which to lie, Instead, this Christ was born to die.

Jesus at Your name every knee will bow. Jesus at Your name every tongue confess, Jesus, at Your name every voice proclaim

That You are Lord of all! O Jesus, at Your name.

Pilate set Barabbas free,

But You, they hung for all to see.

A cross, a spear, a thorny crown Became Your emblems of renown.

Faithful to Your final breath, Obedient even unto death.

Jesus at Your name…

Let this mind be now in you That though Christ owned the earth,

He laid aside His very life To embrace this humble birth!

Jesus at Your name…

All hail the power of Jesus’ name.
