Dear Brothers and Sisters, Goodbye 2019 and Welcome 2020! The countdown in hours to the end of the year 2019 is well underway. And al-most just like that, in a few days we will begin the journey of the year 2020. So, first let me heartily wish every family and individual of our tri-parish a happy and fruitful New Year 2020. May the new year bring with it God’s blessings in our individual, family and faith-community lives. Amen.

As we come to the end of 2019 and start a new year this week, join me in review-ing the outgoing year, and do a quick preview of events coming up in 2020 and others still in the planning stages.

Here are some of the highlights: In June 2019 we had our first pre-Pentecost re-treat, which by many accounts was very good. Following that, was our second tri-parish Pentecost mass, also hosted by Holy Rosary, with Bishop Estevez presid-ing. Plans are already underway for another combo of pre-Pentecost retreat and one tri-parish mass in 2020 as we seek to make this a tradition in our tri-parish area.

One of the fruits of the pre-Pentecost event was scheduling our first tri-parish youth retreat, which took place on December 21, only a few days ago. It is hoped that, we are able to have this as a regular event in our tri-parish calendar of events during the year 2020 and beyond. Our young people are engaged very much in the life of our parishes, and I commend and thank those working with them and encouraging them in their faith journey.

During the year 2019, some parishioners got involved with outreach services with ‘Meals on Wheels’ and Catholic Charities. And over the next few weeks in 2020, we hope that, a conference of the St. Vincent De Paul Society is established in our tri-parish area. We can never do too much in alleviating the challenges that oth-ers face in society. In keeping with that theme, Catholic Charities moved its food bank to the campus of St. Pius V this past October.

At the diocesan level, 2020 is a very significant one, as the Diocese of St. Augustine marks her 150th anniversary. In the days to come, the official opening and proclamation will be giving by Bishop Estevez. Other events year round to celebrate this anniversary are available in the Diocesan calendar for the year 2020.

For all that we were able to do in every aspect of the lives of our parishes, I want to thank the staff, ministry leaders, all volunteers and every parishioner. May we keep the flame of faith burning brightly by the grace of the One who has called us. Amen! Have a blessed and fruitful New Year 2020 everyone!!! Fr. Bernardine

STEWARDSHIP AWARENESS SUNDAY “Wives, be subordinate to your husbands…Husbands, love your

wives…Children, obey your parents in everything…Fathers, do not

provoke your children…” (Colossians 3:18-21)

Pope Francis said that families, through their life of prayer and love, become "schools of true human growth." Being credible witnesses of Christian love, especially that of family members, exerts the most positive influence on our children. We are all children of God, let us pray and love each other as God, Our Father, does for us.

WORD OF LIFE “Like Our Blessed Mother welcomed Jesus, we are called to cherish and protect the gift of human life, at every stage and in every cir-cumstance.”

USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities “Living Out Christmas in the New Year”

DID YOU KNOW? The Church advocates for respect for bodily integrity. Therefore, acts of terrorism, and torture are contrary to respect for the person and their human dignity. Except when performed for legitimate medical reason, amputa-tions, mutilations, and sterilization performed on inno-cent persons is against the moral law. (CCC #2297)

WITH APPRECIATION Thank you to St. Bernadette Council for hosting their 3rd Annual Jingle and Mingle Christmas Party. Your hospitality and kindness exemplified love overflowing. Thank you to The Youth Ministry for sending Christmas Cards to the sick and homebound. Your

thoughtfulness was very generous!
