CHURCH CLEANING

Thank you to the following people who cleaned church on October 6: Hank & Betty Heimann, Becky Laska, Michelle Moore, Cookie Walsh-Terry, Cindy Sackett, Deb Krumland, Abigail Las-ka, Lela Schaecher, Jan Foltz and Duane Ostdiek.

Crew #11 will clean church on Oct. 19 at 1:00 p.m..

From our Pastor…. We are so very grateful to Norma for her years of service to our parish. In respect of her wishes, she didn’t want a big farewell party. Instead, St. Bon’s staff, along with the Finance Commit-tee, Endowment Committee and Ceme-tery Board surprised Norma with a cake. If you would like to extend your well- wishes to her, you may send a card to: Norma Krzycki, 3255 40th Avenue, Columbus, NE 68601. On Monday, November 5, we will welcome a new face to our team: Stephanie Johnson. Her husband, Tanner and their two children are parishioners at St. Bon’s. She will be the parish office receptionist/secretary—the voice and face of St. Bon’s. The phone rings often, even moreso around holy days when we all have to answer ad nauseum the question, “What time is Mass?” Throughout the day, there is a steady stream of people from all three parishes who visit the office to pick up Family Faith Formation or Godparent materials, buy SCRIP or a funeral plot, talk to Rocio for Hispanic ministry or immigration issues or meet with me. Dianne Keiter is moving…to Fr. Keating’s old office. She will continue her duties as Liturgist and take on a little more in this area. She also will be doing special projects, such as the Tri-Parish Pictoral Directory, keep-ing the website and social media platforms current, coor-dinate our facilities calendar and assist me in setting ap-pointments. I want to be transparent in all aspects of leading our parish as pastor. I know that many of you are aware of the things that go on, or have been in the parish office multiple times and see how busy we are as a parish of almost 1,700 families. Some may question the need for a new position. But with the perfect storm of transforming our parish from maintenance to mission through the im-plementation of the Archdiocesan Vision of One Church, Encountering Jesus, Equipping Disciples and Living Mercy, Project 2020 and more collaboration with neighboring parishes, now is the time to move forward with this need. Please help me welcome Stephanie as she begins her new position in November. Know that I am grateful to all our staff—including those in the school—for their outstanding commitment to St. Bon’s. I know how hard they work. Join me in encouraging them in their particu-lar ministries. We are blessed to have an extremely talented staff who could work in the secular job market and get paid way more than the Church is able to afford. But they truly view their work as “ministry” and have said “yes” to the promptings of the Holy Spirit!

Blessings,
