First Reading ~ Primera Lectura Isaiah 50: 5-9a Isaiah prophesied: I gave my back to those who beat me and my face to buffets and spitting. I was not

disgraced, for when the Lord is with me, how can I be ashamed?

Esto En aquel entonces, dijo Isaías: “El Señor Dios me ha hecho oír sus palabras y yo no he opuesto re-

sistencia, ni me he echado para atrás. Ofrecí la espalda a los que me golpeaban, la mejilla a los que me

tiraban de la barba. No aparté mi rostro de los insultos y salivazos. Pero el Señor me ayuda, por eso no

quedaré confundido, por eso endurecí mi rostro como roca y sé que no quedaré avergonzado. Cercano

está de mí el que me hace justicia, ¿quién luchará contra mí? ¿Quién es mi adversario? ¿Quién me

acusa? Que se me enfrente. El Señor es mi ayuda, ¿quién se atreverá a condenarme?’’

Second Reading ~ Segunda Lectura James 2: 14-18 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?

Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day,

and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well, ” but you do not give

them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have

works, is dead. Indeed someone might say, “You have faith and I have works.” Demonstrate

your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.

Profession of Faith

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth,

and in Jesus Christ,

his only son, our Lord,

At the following words, up to and

including “virgin mary,” all bow.

who was conceived by the holy spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died and was buried;

he descended into hell;

on the third day

he rose again from the dead;

he ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand

of God the Father almighty;

From there he will come

to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and life everlasting.

Amen.

Creo en Dios, Padre todopoderoso,

Creador del cielo y de la tierra.

Creo en Jesucristo, su único Hijo,

nuestro Señor,

Que fue concebido

por obra y gracia del Espíritu Santo,
