LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Parishioners,

God is reminding us today that all good things in life have

come from him. Many people often get angry at God and

ask why he allows bad things to happen. Fewer people

are humble and honest enough to ask themselves a much

more important question: Why do good things happen,

why is there any good in the world at all, where did it

come from? We should think more about the answers to

those questions.

Today's Readings paint the picture of a vineyard, or a

garden. Gardens are environments carefully created by

gardeners in order to enable plants to be healthy and

reach maturity, bearing abundant fruit. God sees our

souls as gardens of virtue. Just as God supplied the

vineyard with air, sunlight, water, soil, the wall to protect

it, and the tower to guard it, so he supplies each one of

us with life, talents, opportunities, family, sacraments,

faith, knowledge, conscience, and the guidance of the

Church. There is no good thing we can think of that

doesn't owe its origin and existence to God. One of the

very best things that God gives us is his mercy, his

patience. Today's Readings show how many chances God

gives his tenants to do the right thing, to fulfill their

duties, to do what they were put there to do. When they

don't do what's right, God sends three different

messengers, including his own son. In justice, however,

he didn't have to send any. He could have evicted those

selfish stewards right away. But God is patient with our

sin and selfishness. He keeps giving us more and more

chances, many more than we deserve. He never gives up

on us, even though sometimes we give up on ourselves.

God's boundless mercy is the best evidence of his

immense goodness.

May God bless you, Fr. Dan

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, thank you for loving me enough to work in my life.

Today I release the things I don't understand into your hands. I

believe that you are working behind the scenes on my behalf. I

believe that you have good things in store for my future. I

choose to wait on you and trust you now and forevermore in

Jesus' name. Amen.

St. Jerome Catholic School's mission statement is: Embracing

and extending the mission of Christ and the Catholic Church

through academics, community and service.

In honoring the mission statement, the 6th grade class and

members of the National Junior Honor Society, held a car

wash last Saturday to raise money for the St. Jerome families

who had flooded during Hurricane Harvey. The students

received a large amount of monetary donations and the line

was as long as the parking lot! Thank you to everyone who

allowed these students to serve their community, provide a

service and help their fellow classmates and teachers.

Help our school, drop off your Box Tops to the school office, Thank you!

“WHAT DO YOU WANT OUT OF LIFE?” – The question was an eye-catching caption in a recent bank advertisement. In a vid for savings accounts, it advised individuals to save for “that dream vacation, a new wardrobe, retirement years, a new house, a car or boat, most anything, in fact.” Its natural a desire both the essentials and the reasonable comforts of life. But keep a healthy balance between “taking out” and “putting in.” You have been delegated by God to make a unique contribution to life. It may seem insignificant to you, but from His point of view you are irreplaceable. Be willing, like the Lord Himself, to “give” to others more than you “receive” especially to those who do not share your advantages.

The doctor calls his patient by telephone:

"Vera, I have good news and bad news."

"Well then, . . . tell me the good news first."

"The results of the analysis indicate that you have 24

hours left to live."

"Well, that's the good news? Then what's the bad

news?"

"That I have been trying to reach you since yesterday."

RESPECT LIFE: Calling on people everywhere to reach out to migrants, Pope Francis launched Caritas International's "Share the Journey" migration campaign in Rome Sept. 27. The 2-year campaign of action and awareness-raising will promote the strengthening of relationships between migrants, refugees, and communities. Pope Francis calls to promote the culture of encounter - to see people on the move with humanity, to open hearts and minds, to change perceptions.

Prayer for Victims of Pornography Father God, I come to you in the name of Jesus and I repent of this sin and I ask that the Precious Blood of Jesus would cleanse my mind and my heart from the images that have been imprinted there. I pray that you would renew my mind with images of Jesus on the cross dying for my sins. Renew my mind with your Word according to Romans 12:1-2, Lead me Oh Lord to the scriptures that would continue my minds renewal process. Free me from the bondage Oh Holy Spirit, forgive me for having so many time offended you. You have said that no Temptation has laid hold of us, that is not common to man and that you would not allow us to be tempted beyond a point where we cannot escape. I pray that you would show me the way out; show me the traps and roads that the enemy has laid before me so that I may choose another which leads me to you, Oh Lord. THIS IN JESUS NAME WE PRAY. Sponsored by The Catholic Daughters – Court Ave Maria #2001 Ribbons will be passed out at all 5:30 PM, 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM Masses of October 28th & 29th
