Father's Faith NotesBuilding on last week, I want to share with you further details about the upcoming renovation of the Church and address some questions. You may have seen the paint samples on the wall, which give at least some idea of where things are heading. It is, however, an incomplete picture without another key piece: the lighting. As part of the overall project, our existing light fixtures will be retrofitted to be brighter. That will also affect how the paint and other colors look in the new design. To address that, we actually used a portable lighting system that simulated what the lighting will be when

we chose the paint colors, carpet, and upholstery so that we could see what it will look like when it is finished. It will be beautiful.

God willing, that work will begin soon, with the goal of completing all the “basics” in time for our feast day on September 29th. The additional work in the sanctuary – marble, statues, etc. will then be fin-ished in a second phase planned for January/February. We are doing the work this way to minimize the disruption to our parish life. While the basic work is underway, the Church building will be closed Monday through Friday and we will have daily Mass in the Parish Center, keeping Sunday Masses in the Church. Only in January/February, a slower time on the parish calendar, will the Church be closed over the weekend also for a short time while the new altar and other sanctuary furnishings are installed.

This will allow us to keep the best balance we can find of making the Church even more beautiful for the long-term while continuing to gather and worship together throughout. We will continue to com-municate with you as plans develop. Thank you in advance for your flexibility and for sharing in the excitement of this project.

Have a blessed week! Fr. Michael

Parish Announcements and EventsRENEW, REFRESH, REFOCUS

The excitement is building as we plan for the proj-ects associated with our 25th anniversary cam-paign, Renew, Refresh, Refocus - and Celebrate! The majority of the projects have already been funded, thanks to your generosity, but we have the opportunity for further enhancements if the parish is excited. Please go to www.stmichaelcary.org/25Anniversary to learn more and get involved with enhancements you'd like to see happen.

THAT MAN IS YOU GENESIS TO JESUS SUMMER SERIESMen of the parish are invited to join That Man Is You for their summer series, Genesis to Jesus

on Thursdays from 7-8 am in the Conference Center. Genesis to Jesus is part of the St. Paul Cen-ter for Biblical Theology’s dynamic Journey Through Scripture Bible study series.

What is the Bible, where does it come from, and what is its purpose? How are Catholics sup-posed to read the Bible and what story does it tell? These are the ever-important questions

answered in Genesis to Jesus. Join us to learn the basic Catholic principles for reading Scripture and to survey the broad outlines of the books of the Bible and their place in the story of salva-tion. Designed to help ordinary Catholics grow in their knowledge of the Scriptures while deep-ening their understanding of the riches of our faith, Journey through Scripture takes a holistic

approach, looking at the entire Bible and how all of its parts work together.

DIOCESE OF RALEIGH VIRTUAL SCHOOLThe Office of Education is partnering with Catholic Virtual to offer a new

option for Catholic education in the Diocese of Raleigh. Beginning with the school year 2021-2022, students can attend the Diocese of Raleigh Virtual

School. This new school will offer a 100% Catholic virtual school experi-ence for grades kindergarten through grade 8. While this option is not for everyone, there is a need in our diocese to reach the students who would

flourish in this environment. Current families who are attending our Catholic schools are invited to register if your current school will not offer a remote option next year.

Please join us for a parent informational session. Both sessions will be the same, therefore at-tendance is only needed once. Pre-registration is required at the link below.

P. Miguel
