Dear parishioners of St. Daniel the Prophet, I am deeply grateful for the welcome and kindness shown to me from the moment I arrived at the parish. St. Daniel’s will always be my first parish assignment, and I am thankful that this community will have such a special place in my heart. Over the past several months, I’ve realized that I have some personal issues for which I require more spiritual and psychological healing. With the support of the Diocese, I am leaving my ministry at St. Daniel’s to receive the help I need. I want to reassure you that no misconduct of any kind has occurred, and there are no disciplinary reasons for my departure from St. Daniel’s. I am leaving with the permission of Bishop Olmsted, the support of Fr. McGuire, and by my own request. I have come to see that I need to receive some further care, and that I am unable to do so while continuing to serve here at the parish. Going forward, I will remain the part-time chaplain at Xavier College Preparatory and will live in residence at St. Joan of Arc parish in Phoenix. I know that my departure is sudden, and I regret not being able to say goodbye and thank you in person. But I hope you will understand that this is what’s needed in this moment for my well-being. I thank you for your prayers, and please know of my continued prayers for you. In Christ, Fr. Glenn

After this, when Jesus knew that all was now finished, he said (in order to fulfill the scripture), “I am thirsty.” A jar full of sour wine was standing there. So they put a sponge full of the wine on a branch of hyssop and held it to his mouth. — John 19:28-29

“I THIRST”: With these words of Jesus, we are not only reminded of the physical thirst he endured in his passion, but also the spiritual thirst he experiences even now. Jesus thirsts to be the only satisfaction of our hearts; he wants to nourish us with his very self in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist. As we spiritually prepare to join him on the road to Calvary once again, won’t we also thirst to be united to him?

Brothers and Sisters, it is our great privilege to offer you a special opportunity to spend time with Christ Jesus physically present to us in the Eucharist! Make plans to join us for Forty Hours Eucharistic Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament on March 22-26, 2021.

The Adoration will begin with a Solemn Mass of Exposition on Monday, March 22th at 8:00 AM. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for adoration from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM when the devotion ends with the Benediction.

Adoration before Our Lord is an opportunity to give thanks for everything that He has given us through His love, to give thanks for the gift of life and health in the midst of this pandemic, and to beg strength and support for those who are on the front lines, responding in this difficult time or who have lost a loved one. We also ask that God guide our political leaders to defend the right to life, our religious freedom, and the common good. This is a moment to open ourselves to Our Lord and express everything in your heart: joys, sadness, worries, and hopes.

A 40-hour period of Eucharistic Adoration is a tradition began in Rome by St. Philip Neri in 1548. Symbolizing the 40 days of the flood, the 40 years the Israelites wandered in the desert, and the 40 hours from Christ’s death to His resurrection. Offering 40 hours of adoration to Our Lord is an important act of devotion to God. As with any time of adoration, individuals can take time to pray the Rosary, the Stations of the Cross, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, read Sacred Scripture, or engage spiritual reading. Most simply and beautifully, one can humbly sit in silence in the presence of Jesus, much like one might quietly sit in the presence of a spouse, family member, or a good friend. We invite you to come to the church during these 40 hours to spend some time with Jesus!

He will be waiting for you!
