Chapter 1: MIST PREPMIST is the testing app we will be using to take the TCAP writing assessment.
Logging into MIST1. Click on the MIST software on
the home screen of your computer.
2. Look at the ticket Ms. Shultz handed to you. Type in your username and password into the box.
3. Click Login.
After logging in, you will see the start screen that indicates what test is being taken. You can click on the “Start Test” button to begin.

Chapter 2: Navigating in MIST
To navigate to the next page in the test, you click the Next button. To go back to the page you were just on, you press the Previous
button.
To scroll the text, click the up and down arrows on the scroll bar on the right.
You can also click the inner scroll bar, hold down, and drag up and down with your other fingers to quickly move the page.

the essay.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the essay. Then scroll
back to the top.
Chapter 3: Writing in MISTWriting in MIST is done by typing in the box below the prompt.

Normally when we write, we indent our paragraphs. To indent paragraphs in MIST, we press the “Tab” button on the left side of the keyboard.
Press “Enter” on the keyboard to create a new paragraph by going to the next line. Remember to press Tab to indent this new paragraph!
To capitalize letters as we type, hold down the “Shift” key while pressing your letter.
If you want to navigate back to the essay while you’re writing, remember that you can press the Previous and Next buttons to go back and forth.

Chapter 4: Finishing the Test

When you finish the test completely, press the finish button on the last page of the test. It will appear instead of the Next button.
**You won’t be able to go back after this point, so be sure that you have completely finished the test**
Click the second finish button on the next page to end the test.
