Ask the Garrison Commander: Mulbury re-emphasizes USAG-HI’s communication tools, methods

May 1, 2012

U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii Public Affairs Office

Mulbury

The “Ask the Garrison Commander” program is designed as a communication tool to allow Soldiers, civilians and family members to get concerns addressed and questions answered by the garrison commander.

Directorates and support staff research queries and provide responses to Col. Douglas Mulbury, commander, U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii.

The Customer Management Team at garrison’s Plans, Analysis and Integration Office monitors all responses.

A sampling of questions that have community-wide impact are published monthly in the “Hawaii Army Weekly.”

Community members can submit questions via the Ask the Garrison Commander website; time-sensitive concerns should be directed to the Interactive Customer Evaluation, or ICE system.

Customer Feedback Venues

The Army community can communicate with the garrison in these venues:

•Through ICE at http://ice.disa.mil.

•Via the Ask the Garrison Commander website at www.garrison.hawaii.army.mil/comments/contactgc.aspx.

•By submitting an Army Family Action Plan issue form at www.garrison.hawaii.army.mil/crmt/default.htm.

•Through the Installation Access Council, or IAC. To confirm if your unit is represented, call 655-9033 or email [email protected].

Review IAC issue sheets, past issue information and results at www.garrison.hawaii.army.mil/crmt/default.htm.

•During the monthly PX/Commissary Advisory meetings. The next meeting for the Oahu South Community is scheduled for 10:15-11:15 a.m., May 2, at the Hale Ikena, Fort Shafter.

All Fort Shafter community members are invited to attend and provide input. Call 438-0428.

•During quarterly Facebook town halls. The next Facebook town hall is 6-7:30 p.m., May 29.

To submit an “Ask the Commander” question, send an email to [email protected]. For more information, call Rosie Stone (655-9033) at USAG-HI’s Customer Relations Team, or call Aiko Brum (656-3155) at the USAG-HI Public Affairs Office.

14th ANNUAL LANTERN FLOATING FESTIVAL ALA MOANA BEACH PARK

May 28, 2012 Set afloat lanterns at sunset in remembrance of loved ones who have passed, or as symbolic prayer for a harmonious and peaceful future. This year’s 90-minute ceremony and program starts at 6 p.m. with a Buddhist service led by the head of Shinnyo-en, Her Holiness Keishu Shinso Ito. The event also includes performances by international and Hawaiian musicians, including acclaimed local recording artists The Brothers Cazimero and Raiatea Helm. At the conclusion of the ceremony, all lanterns are collected from the ocean and recycled for use in the upcoming years. Visitors wanting to personally float a lantern should stop by the lantern request tent on event day starting at 1 p.m., with lanterns available on a first-come first-served basis. There is no charge to participate. Free event parking is available at the Hawaii Convention Center, complimentary shuttles to and from the event site beginning at 4 p.m.
