3rd Sunday of Lent

March 19, 2017

Dear friends of Jesus and Brendan,

On the 3rd Sunday of Lent we begin the first of three scrutinies and exorcisms of the Elect preparing for the Easter Sacraments... the scrutinies are an opportunity for the elect to look within themselves and scrutinize their lives in the light of the Gospel so that through the exorcisms that follow they may be freed from any obstacles to their Baptism and protect them from the power of the Evil One. We will celebrate the scrutinies with Maribel Cardoso at the Spanish Mass and with John Chan at the 11:00 Mass. Please keep them and all of our candidates for the Easter Sacraments in your prayers. Don't forget to make a good confession in preparation for the renewal of your Baptismal Promises at Easter. I encourage everyone who is available during the day to commit to at least one hour of Eucharistic Adoration each week... we are doing well so far... Adoration is such a beautiful source of healing grace for the parish and for each adorer. Beginning on Monday, the Church will be open until 4:00 each weekday afternoon to allow for visits to the Blessed Sacrament outside of Mass and Adoration time. At 12:00 noon the main doors of the church will be locked. The courtyard gate will be left open as well as the door at the top of the ramp. JESUS IS WAITING! As you can see, we have listed a number of our current bills... when our offertory collection is approximately $2,500 per week, we are becoming overly dependent on the school rent for our survival. With the attendance we have most weeks the offertory collection should be closer to $6,000. We must support our parish ourselves... Everyone must share responsibility for the financial health of the parish. We receive no outside funding or support. Please... It would be wonderful to see the chapel filled for daily Mass. There are a few extra people during Lent, but there is still room! Have a blessed week! Peace and blessings, Father Peter

Please take note:

The Ramp door to the Church will be open Monday - Thursday till 4pm and Fridays till 7 pm.

A PRAYER FOR LENT Look down upon me, O good and gentle Jesus,

While before your face I humbly kneel, and with burning soul pray and beseech you to fix deep in my heart

lively sentiments of faith, hope and charity, true contrition for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment;

while I contemplate with great love and tender pity your five most precious wounds, pondering over them within me,

calling to mind the words which David your prophet said of you, my good Jesus:

“They have pierced my hands and my feet; they have numbered all my bones.”

BETHLEHEM CHRISTIAN FAMILIES On the weekend of April 1st & 2nd, our brothers and sisters representing the Bethlehem Christian

Families; a non profit organization through Land of Peace will be with us speaking about the Christian

situation in the Holy Land and selling Crucifixes, reli-gious art work, and rosaries-all made of olive wood which is native to Israel and Bethlehem. Since tour-

ism has greatly depleted, Christian families in the holy land, who depend on tourists, have been greatly

affected. The goal of this mission is to build a Charitable Hospital in Bethlehem and help poor and needy families in Bethlehem and Jerusalem. Sale of these goods will help them very much and also give you the opportunity to have “something” authentic from the holy land. Please browse and buy some articles. It is for a good cause and also a help to your personal devotion. For more info Website:
