During the season of Easter, what a great time to remember our mothers and ask for God's blessing on them. It is God
who ultimately gave us life. It is through God's unselfish love--mirrored in
our mothers' willingness to associate their love with God's and take the risk to love us into life--that we have the oppor-tunity for life. We remember our moth-ers this Mother's Day with much love.
Sharing the Gospel Jesus said, "Father, I am on my way to you. Keep my followers safe from the evil one." Tell God
the Father that you are following his Son, Jesus Christ. When you are thinking about taking a toy
that is not yours, God will help you decide to be good. When you get very angry and want to hit
someone, God will help you to pull your hand back in peace. He will keep you safe from evil ways.
Every day when you are in school, your teachers help you learn. You get better at following direc-
tions. You get better at listening. You get better at remembering what you learned. Over the
school year, your teacher gets you ready for the next grade. In today's Gospel, Jesus prayed for
his friends. Jesus spent the last three years teaching his friends how to follow God and how to
love others. His time to teach was almost over. Jesus prayed that his friends would stay close to
God. Jesus asked God to protect them as they shared his teachings with the whole world.
Prayer
Jesus, help me to follow You. Amen.
