Data Collection – Stage 1
Data partitioning is the means by which the EDS divides the data presented to it between the many fraud detection processes present in a typical deployment
Data validation is performed by the EDS and CDS checking that fields that are required for Minotaur™ to operate correctly are present in their respective data streams
Data filtering is also a function of the EDS and CDS since data streams usually contain large amounts of information not required by Minotaur™. This information is filtered out at an earlier stage for maximum efficiency
Rating calculations are necessary for calculating estimates of the cost of transactions and the EDS performs these calculations and outputs the results for use by Minotaur’s fraud detection components
The EDS (Event Data Record Server) and CDS (Customer Data Server) perform a variety of data pre-processing tasks between Minotaur™ and external data sources, primarily event data record streams in the case of the EDS, and customer data streams in the case of the CDS. Candidate Profiling – Stage 2
Rules are used to look for known fraud indicators, such as large numbers of long international calls
Dynamic Thresholds, thresholds can dynamically be altered based on individual activity
Behavioural Models learn the unique patterns of normal behaviour of every individual and entity and detect frauds by their deviations from these patterns
Special Lists, this can be black, white, hot lists etc. based on different entities including destination, credit card, IMSI, etc., etc.
Predictive Analytics have been used to identify individuals likely to default on payments

Intelligent Alarm Analysis – Stage 3
IAAs (Intelligent Alarm Analysers) apply a combination of three different types of analysis to the likely frauds discovered by the CFD in order to ascertain their reliability and severity. The IAA identifies the most important cases to allow for prompt processing of the most serious frauds
The IAA is usually configured to analyse how frequently suspicious events are detected by components within the CFD. If many suspicious events are associated with a particular entity in a short period of time, it is likely that a fraud is in progress

Section 3.4 – Host-based intrusion detection System (HIDS)(Symantec Critical System Protection)
Symantec Critical System Protection is a host-based intrusion prevention technology that provides “Day-zero” attack protection, out-of-the-box hardening of operating systems and common user-applications and the ability to maintain compliance to corporate governance and security policies in a cost-effective centrally managed product.
HIDS agents will be deployed on all servers in the data centres as per the tender requirements and will provide the 3rd layer of defence to Servers in the data centres.
Broad platform support – including Solaris, Windows, Windows NT and Linux, AIX and HP-UX – helps ensure interoperability in heterogeneous operating environments

Symantec™ Client Security Integrated security technologies, including antivirus, firewall, intrusion prevention, and anti spyware, proactively protect client systems from security risks and network intrusions
Symantec client Security will be deployed on desktops as mentioned in the tender requirements. Each Data Centre will have primary antivirus server & secondary antivirus server in other to
achieve the fail over scenario. By using a Live Update server, only one computer retrieves the virus definitions files over the
Internet, which preserves firewall bandwidth. LiveUpdate secure the download process by checking file signatures before delivering any LiveUpdate content to users. In addition, LiveUpdate secures and authenticates downloaded packages to each client, server, and gateway.
The Symantec Digital Immune System is an automated virus response system. Leveraging Symantec Antivirus Research Automation or “SARA” Symantec can automatically respond to new threats detected within your network.
SCS provides centralized administration of the Firewall, IPS, and Antivirus through a single console. Multiple configurations can be created and pushed to clients to adapt to changes in management or new threats. Will enable administrators to remotely install, configure, manage, and update client antivirus, firewall, and intrusion detection protection from a central management console (the Symantec™ System Center). Simplifies client security management, reducing administrative burden, resources, and overall costs.
All client security components are updated using a single update method and all client security components utilize a single installation package. Incremental update technology reduces definition file and Centralized alerting, logging and graphical reporting can be accessed from a single management console.
