Holy Father’s Prayer Intention
For July 2015
Universal Intention: That political
responsibility may be lived at all
levels as high for of charity.
Intention for Evangelization: That,
amid social inequalities, Latin American Christians
may bear witness to love for the poor and contribute
to a more fraternal society
Pro-Life Reflections
Jesus spoke to men a message of peace, and taught us to
live as brothers. His message took form in the vision of
our fathers, as the fashioned a nation where men might
live as one. This message lives on in our midst as a
task for men today and a promise for tomorrow. ~Preface, Liturgy for Independence Day
Reflection. The pro-life work we do advances the purpose
of today’s celebration.
As a nation under God, we gather to give thanks and to pray
for liberty and justice for all.
Prayer. Lord grant the blessings of liberty to our unborn
brothers and sisters.
14th Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 4 & 5, 2015
Ezekiel 2:2-5 They are a rebellious house but shall know that a
prophet has been among them.
Psalm 123 “Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for his
mercy.”
2 Corinthians 12:7-10 I will boast in my weaknesses, in order that the
power of Christ may dwell in me.
Mark 6:1-6 A prophet is not without honor except in his
native place.
A major theme in Mark’s Gospel is the faith of the people whom Jesus encounters.
In contrast to last week’s stories about Jairus and the woman with the incurable
illness, the people from Jesus’ hometown deride him and take offense at him.
Because of their lack of faith, Jesus is unable to perform any mighty deeds there.
God is always reaching out to us, but we must also be willing to respond to God’s
invitation. How is God reaching out to you in today’s readings?
