Rite of Acceptance When the inquiring person and the Church

community believe that the person is showing

signs of a Christian faith and is ready to commit

to becoming Catholic, the person is invited to

celebrate a ritual called "Rite of Acceptance

into the Order of the Catechumenate." By

celebrating this rite, the person is officially and publicly

declaring his or her intention to enter into a formal

relationship with the Church, learning its ways and

participating in its lifestyle. The Church, in turn, accepts

their commitment and pledges its support throughout the

Person’s journey of faith. This rite makes the person an

official member of the Church.

Therefore, the person is given an official title and role to

play in the Church, that of "catechumen" which means

"one in whom the Word of God echoes." In preparation

of this rite, the Church also gives the inquiring person a

gift, a blessed Catholic Bible.

Please welcome and encourage our candidates on

Sunday, January 28th. at the 10:30 am Mass:

Third Sunday in Ordinary Time January 21, 2018

Jefferson County Wisconsin Right to Life would like you to remember all those who are attending

the March for Life in Washington D.C.

On January 22, 1974 thousands of pro-lifers participated

in the first March for Life to stand up for the unborn. An

inspiring rally was held as Members of Congress

announced pro-life legislation and expressed their support

for the pro-life cause. The program concluded with a

“Circle of Life” march around the Capitol, followed by

participants lobbying their Members of Congress.

Soon after that first March in 1974, it became apparent

that congressional protection for the unborn was not on

the horizon. Instead of sitting on the sidelines, it was

decided that the March for Life, rather than the originally

anticipated one-time event, would instead be held every

year until Roe v. Wade was overturned.

That year, the March for Life became incorporated as an

action-oriented non-profit organization, and the “Life

Principles” were developed as the underlying guideline of

the organization.

The March continued to grow and develop each year.

Nellie was an ever-faithful voice for the most vulnerable

in society, working to protect the preborn until her last

hours of life. While each March for Life has faced a

unique challenge or obstacle, the numbers of participants

have continued to grow. Please pray for all those who

participate in the March.

Madison March for Life Please join Madison’s local March for Life

on Monday, Jan. 22.

Where: St. Patrick’s (404 E. Main St,

Madison) to the Wisconsin State Capitol

When: Rosary for Life at 11:45 AM;

Mass at 12:10 PM, and peaceful march

to the State Capitol at 1:00 PM

What: Following the mass we will

march around the Capitol then go inside

for prayer and then visit each legislator

with the message that all life is precious

from conception to natural death.

The theme for our march is “As a

Pro-Life People - We Dare to

Hope.”

This event is sponsored by the Diocese of Madison.
