SEPTEMBER MAINTENANCE FUND 2ND COLLECTIONRecently, our parish was able to acquire the apartment building next door to the rectory. In June the building was torn down and the land

was completely razed at the cost of $70K. We are now in the process of receiving bids for the construction of a new brick fence. Fencing in

part of the land, allowing for a backyard for the rectory and completion of fencing along Del Monte Street, as well as removing the drive-in

approaches and adding sidewalks and curbing will cost $100K. Dirt work and leveling of the land and new rectory backyard – adding trees,

grass and a sprinkler system will cost $40K. The maintenance fund collections for the foreseeable future will help to offset this cost. At least

¾ of the property will not be developed at this time – allowing us to contemplate future needs of the parish. Finally, the capstones on all of

the brick fencing on the parish property need to be permanently affixed to the fencing—many capstones have come loose or have come off

completely. The repair for this is $55K. The grand total for all work is $265K. I thank you for your continued participation in this collection

and if you would like to donate additional funding to assist with this project, your generosity will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for

your kindness as we improve and expand our facilities.

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Wayne

Prayers of the FaithfulThe Lord Jesus loves our brothers and sisters who are ill. With trust let us pray to Him that he will comfort them with His grace. –Rite of the Anointing of the Sick

In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil, and bid them eternal rest. –USCCB

Fr. Albert McCabe, H. Dixon Montague, Ralph Galli, Peggy Pryor, Gerry Robins, Leeland Fontenot, and Charles Guilliams

When does Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) take place?During the 9 am and 11 am Masses during the school year, mid-September through April, the priest will announce when it is time for children ages 4 through 10 to be dismissed for CLOW.

How old are the children who attend? The children range from ages 4 through 10. What happens at Children’s Liturgy of the Word? The children listen to the Gospel reading, and participate in a reflection and activity that is suited to their age level. Children return to their families after the Prayers of the Faithful, and remain with their families for the rest of Mass. Please note that CLOW is a structured program, and it is not the same as “babysitting” or “play time.”

Do I need to register my child in advance? No registration is required!

May I attend as a parent? You may attend once if you would like to observe CLOW, especially if it is your 4-year-old’s first time. Any parent who attends more than once, even if not technically “volunteering” needs to be Virtus trained. If you would like more information about Virtus training or volunteering, please contact Maria Reynolds – [email protected].

In addition offering prayer and fasting for an end to abortion in America during the 40 Days for Life campaign, please consider volunteering to pray for one hour or more alongside fellow parishioners. When people are present in prayer at the abortion site, through the Grace of God, hearts are changed and lives are saved.

Sign up before or after Masses the weekend of September 15/16. Additionally, you may get more information or volunteer, by contacting Colleen Akers – [email protected] or (281) 546-6790.
