The early month dairy sale saw a fantastic quality entry of cattle forward that met a storming trade and one of

the best seen so far this year with 6 selling at over £2,000 and a fantastic 1st quality heifer average at £1861!

Fresh calved Heifers topped at £2250 for an outstanding ‘Papoose’ Heifer ‘Oxenacres Altaceo Papoose’ calved

mid-September and yielding 34Kgs on behalf Martin Webber of Drewsteignton, Exeter. The sale also saw the

first consignment of the herd dispersal on Behalf of Mr MJ Grills & Son of Marhamchurch. This consignment of

quality dairy cattle, that had calved since June had a flying trade. Heifers from this consignment saw the first lot

fetch £2000 and topped at £2020 on two occasions both having calved early July and yielding over 30Kgs with

other heifers from the same vendor realising bids of £2000. Andrew Bonner of Umberleigh almost rang the

bell with a freshly calved Heifer yielding 31Kgs and sired by Cogent Azure which realised £1980.

Cows topped at £2020 for ‘Westlay Fiddler Blighty 5’ a 2nd calver calved mid-July and yielding 44Kgs as part of

the Grills family consignment. Followed closely by £2000 for a superb 2nd calver ‘Trudnoe Gateau Flower 71’

calved mid-September and yielding 35Kgs on behalf of JH & SM Dark & Sons, Helston who also sold another

2nd calver ‘Trudnoe hunger Humbug 25’ at £1950. DR & LJ Johns of Bodmin sold an excellent 2nd calver ‘Tregoose Glenton Pandora 4 GP80’ yielding 35Kgs at £1900 with DMJ & CI Petherick of Winkleigh also achieving £1900

for their Pedigree 2nd calver ‘Tenoaks Grafeeti Star’.

Whilst the flying trade for the exceptional quality of cattle forward saw high demand. Lower yielding and leaner

sorts are being significantly discounted and in much less demand.

With only a small entry of In Calf Heifers forward, trade still remained strong with the best topping at £1350

for ‘Tenoaks Shamrock Carla’ a Heifer due to calf Late November to Ladys-Manor RD Grafeeti on behalf of DMJ

& CI Petherick. KJ Waldon & Partners of Umberleigh also sold a consignment of In Calf Heifers topping at

£1200. Heifer Calves September born topped at £200 on behalf of Andrew Bonner on two occasions.
