been finalized and
results meet or exceed ALL performance targets!
Thank you for your hard work and dedication to our patients, the community we

The performance pay will be paid on the Friday, April 5th payroll.
Again, congratulations – it’s well deserved!

Effective Immediately
All Agency Philips MRx cardiac monitors have been assigned to specific units.
With this in mind, there are a few changes in the process and its management as related to how we operate and manage
cardiac monitors. In order to assure we have complete accountability for all monitors and their locations, monitors can
no longer be interchanged between units. All monitors have been relabeled with a specific number that aligns with the
unit it is assigned. If at any time there is a need to change out monitors, a new monitor must be retrieved from an OST in
Logistics and signed for accordingly.
Several monitors have been placed on reserve in Logistics if needed. These reserve monitors are labeled as 063 - 070 in
case you run across one that doesn’t match the unit it’s on.
If you have questions, please contact Operations Manager Bryan Edwards via email at [email protected] or Education
& Quality Specialist Steve Vandeventer at [email protected].
New Cardiac Monitor Resource Process

The American Ambulance Association’s annual Stars of Life
Conference was held in Washington DC last week— and
three of Medic’s most outstanding employees were honored
for their hard work and dedication.
Operations Supervisor Tony Pattillo, Clinical Educator Steve
Vandeventer and Human Resources Generalist Jackie Manley
were nominated by their peers for this honor. Their names
were chosen by the Employee Recognition Committee and
the Lead Team from more than a dozen nominations.
The group traveled to Washington DC for four days where
they participated in an awards ceremony, toured parts of the
city and had the opportunity to be introduced to NC
Senator Richard Burr.
The Stars of Life Award is a top national honor.
Please join Medic in congratulating these three outstanding
employees on their wonderful career accomplishment.
Medic’s Stars of Life Honored
Medic would like to congratulate the newest probationary members of
Mecklenburg EMS Agency’s Tactical Medic team. Pictured from left to
right, Paramedic Crew Chiefs Malcolm Leirmoe, Allison Brinzey, Gabe
McGaha and Luis Barrera completed three very strenuous assessment
phases.
The assessment included a physical fitness component, a mental and
physical assessment, and a panel interview.
The candidates must now complete a Tactical Emergency Medical
Support Program, Tactical Combat Casualty Care & High Threat
Extraction Course and NC Basic SWAT School.
The team provides pre-hospital care and operational rescue to the sick
and injured in support of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team
during deployment and training. These four new members will join the
current six members of Medic’s Tactical Medic team.
Congratulations – New Tactical Medic Team Members

IMPORTANT:
Correction
Regarding
Ambulance
Security
Last week an
article was
printed in the Dispatch regarding ambulance security. We
inadvertently cited a 2003 policy that mandated vehicles be
turned off and locked while a crew is on scene and the
vehicle is out of sight. This was a mistake. Crews are
allowed to leave the ambulance running while on scene,
ensuring the vehicle is in the best operational condition
possible when the crew returns with a patient. We
apologize for the misprint. Thank you.
Vehicle Security Clarification
Learning and Development has been working diligently over
the past few months to make corrections and apply updates
to the patient care protocols. Protocols located on the
Medic Extranet have been replaced with the most current
version which contains all of the previously released
updates and amendments as communicated by Dr.
Swanson.
It is imperative that each employee update their
electronic copy of the protocols with this new
release. If you have previously downloaded the patient
care protocols to your computer or mobile device, please
visit the Medic Extranet to obtain the most current version.
As the patient care protocols are an ever-evolving
document, please be on the lookout for future updates.
Any new changes will be communicated via email as they
have previously so that you may update your personal hard
copy immediately. We will then communicate the need to
update your electric copies as those updates are applied to
the Extranet.
For questions, please contact a member of Learning and
Development.

Congratulations to EMT-B Brandon Voss on his recent
move to the QI department as the newest QI Analyst.
Brandon has been with Medic for a little more than a year,
and is excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the
Agency in a very new way.
In his new role, Brandon will help the QI department with
