A Message from the Padre

Today Jesus calls our attention to comparing a seed to speak of the Kingdom

of God. Jesus tells us that the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed, which is one of

the smallest seeds on earth. Like any other seed, it has no power to change itself until it

is planted in the ground. Once it is planted, it grows up and becomes a large tree. Just like us, we cannot change our lives

and grow until we allow ourselves to become open to God's words and grace. The big question is, “Are we ready to welcome

God and let Him change us through His grace, power and mercy?”

My dear friends, the Kingdom of God, like the mustard tree, continues to live in our lives. All of us are taking part

in the Kingdom of God, but we need to follow all that God wants us to be. We have to remember that Christ, like the mustard

seed grew into the largest tree and gave life to all of us throughout time, in which countless people throughout the ages were

able to come and find shelter in his branches. Let us not forget that the branches of our Church extend throughout the whole

world, with all of us taking our root in that one great event that happened in Calvary when Christ fell on the ground, was cru-

cified, died, was buried and rose again. It is through this small mustard seed who redeemed us through His death that gave us

a new life in God’s Kingdom.

As we grow in Christ’s love and mercy, let us cultivate and water the grounds of our lives by following God’s will.

Remember, Jesus gave this parable for all ages because He wants us to root ourselves ever more in his vineyard and keep our

branches stronger so that more will be able to rest and dwell in the shade of our branches.

Fr Joe

Lord God, Almighty Father, creator of

mankind and author of peace, as we are

ever mindful of the cost paid for the lib-

erty we possess, we ask you to bless the

members of our armed forces. Give them

courage, hope and strength. May they

ever experience your firm support, gentle love and compas-

sionate healing. Be their power and protector, leading them

from darkness to light. To you be all glory, honor and praise,

now and forever. Amen

Please pray for the men and women now serving in the

military, especially the loved ones of our parishioners:

PRAYERS FOR OUR MILITARY FAMILY

The safety and success of our military serving at home and

abroad defending our country should be prayed for daily. All should

be recognized for their outstanding commitment to risk their lives so

we can remain free. Members of our parish family are requested to

provide the names of their loved ones so they can be remembered in

our prayers.

To include their names in our prayer list please contact Carol Na-

sife by email at [email protected] or by calling 609-267-0230

Mark 4: 26-34

In Saint Mark’s Gospel to-day, Jesus speaks in parables so

that the people can understand what he is saying. Using everyday examples with which his listeners would have been familiar, he creates images in their minds of what the reign of God is like. As we listen today to his words, let us too be drawn into the story and eagerly learn what Jesus has to tell us.
