The Pastor’s Corner I was hard pressed and was falling,

but the Lord helped me.

My strength and my courage is the Lord,

and he has been my savior.

Hopefully it's been a long time since you found yourself falling, heading toward a swift introduction with a hard unforgiving

surface. The unexpected fall is breakneck disaster, where the question isn't whether we'll be hurt, but instead how badly. Sudden

falls, even in their split second interruption, make us second-guess everything leading up to the fall: we immediately regret

everything that led to this hasty and abrupt visit to the Emergency Room.

For many of us, enough time elapses between accidents that we drift into inattentiveness; we text while driving, carry one extra bag

in from the car, or return to the soda and cigarettes. Then the abrupt collision drenches us in fruitless regret. Or the freefall comes

at no fault of our own: some raw deal or setback knocks us off our feet, and we find our crafted plans shattering.

Today introduces something different. Today is the day to remember the soft landing; the moment we hit the ground and found

nothing was broken, everything still works. This Second Sunday of Easter is the day we discover we have someone looking out for

us, an ally who intervenes on our behalf.

I was hard pressed and was falling,

but the Lord helped me.

Today, Divine Mercy Sunday, is the day we see the worst disaster, the death of Jesus, and discover that the rebound, his launch to

glory, far eclipses the crash. Jesus' resurrection means that no matter the fall, no matter the collapse, our God has our back.

Begin to believe in Jesus. Believe in a Savior who rescues, a God who saves. What peace we often forfeit, the needless pain we bear,

because we don't remember our strength and our courage, the Mercy that is our ransom.

My strength and my courage is the Lord,

and he has been my savior.

Are you looking for a way to consistently serve the parish? We are in great need of some volunteer help in the office doing some receptionist work. Our greatest need would be on Fridays. Duties include: answering phones, taking messages, assisting parishioners with Mass Intentions, directing people to appropriate coordinators, and selling candles. This is NOT a paid position, but some consistent help would enhance our ability to serve our parishioners in a more timely and effective manner.

Live your faith! Visit stisidore-yubacity.org and select outreach or call (530)671-5154.

St. Vincent De Paul SVdP thanks everyone for your generous donations of clothing to our Food Locker. We are unable to accept any more clothing donations. Please take your donations to C.A.N., Crossroads Church or Good Samaritan Thrift Store, or to your favorite organization. Again, thank you for your generosity, we are just running out of room in our building.
