WELCOMING COMMITTEE SUB-CHAIR NEEDED
We are still in need of a parish couple to volunteer to head
the Welcoming Committee. This can be a highly satisfying
position as you (and your team) meet new parish members
and make them feel welcomed to the St Matthew
community. Several parishioners have volunteered to serve
on this committee but we need someone to provide the
leadership. If interested in this critical position, please
notify the Admin Office or send an e-mail to
[email protected]. St Matthew has a game plan that
includes a number of welcoming ideas but we need a
couple to lead the effort. It can be a rewarding experience.

PARISH DIRECTORY
Our Parish Directory was emailed out a couple weeks
ago. Please take the time to review your family’s
information and contact the parish office with any
necessary changes.
If you did not receive the directory and would like to,
please contact us with your current email address.
Please note that our system will only allow us to send to
one primary email address per family. If you would
like to change your primary email address, please email
us at [email protected].
The directory is intended for the use of St. Matthew
Parishioners only and shall not be used for
solicitation, preparation of mailing lists or “for
profit” activities. "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace
in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10
Join Us to Pray the Rosary Before Each Mass
We will dedicate our prayers to our parish
campaign efforts; as we head down the path
to our new church, as well as any personal
intentions we might have. Come if you can!
Did you know… Using beads to count prayers is an ancient tradition, and not unique to the Catholic faith. The rosary as we know it
today has evolved over time from its original loop of fifty
beads marked out three times (to account for 150 prayers representing all the psalms) to its present configuration of
five decades with some additional prayers. See the blue
pamphlet in the “pews” for a guide on “How to Pray the
Rosary” and join us when you can.
ADULT FAITH FORMATION

ADULT FAITH FORMATION
33 DAYS TO MORNING GLORY
As an important reminder, on December 8, 2017,
Father Leo will lead St. Matthew Parish in an act of
consecration to Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of
Mary on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception,
and as a parish we should be prepared. The time and day
chosen for this act is significant, as it marks the ending
of our Capital Campaign, the beginning of the next
phase of “Building the Future” and the day we honor
Our Blessed Mother by recognizing that she was
conceived without any stain of original sin, thus
immaculately conceived.
The consecration will take place during the 6:30pm
Mass. All parishioners are encouraged “to prepare well
for this special occasion. Traditionally, a Marian
consecration is preceded by 33 days of preparation. The
number of days associated with preparation is
hypothesized to represent one day for each day of
Christ’s life here on earth. The 33-day period of
preparation is not obligatory, but for those wishing to
abide by the traditional preparatory period, the date for
you to begin in order to be ready” for the December 8
Marian consecration is November 5.
“Resources to lead you through a 33-day preparation
period include the classic prayers outlined in St. Louis
Marie de Montfort’s Preparation for Total Consecration
to Jesus through Mary, or the modern version by Father
Michael Gaitley 33 Days to Morning Glory (which St.
Matthew will be using; contact Janice Todd at 402-871-
4699 for a copy). Other resources include Totus Tuus: A
Consecration to Jesus through Mary with Blessed John
Paul II by Father Brian McMaster, and the website of
the New Evangelizer, Jennifer and Greg Willits
(gregandjennifer.com).” (Denver Catholic publication)
If you are not in the practice of praying every day, this is
a perfect time to start small! Some good ideas include
making a commitment to turn your heart and mind to
Our Lady once a day, commit to praying a Hail Mary
every day, pray the Angelus prayer every day at noon,
pray a decade of the Rosary, or read a spiritual book
about Our Blessed Mother for ten minutes each day.
Perhaps set an alarm to remind you to do whatever you
choose. Choose whatever will help you prepare your
heart and mind for this most special gift!
SUNDAY EVENING PRAYER ("VESPERS")
Vespers are held every Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. in
the chapel. Evening Prayer is one part of the Church's
Liturgy of the Hours. Through the Liturgy of the
Hours, the people of God sanctify the day by continual
praise of God and prayers of intercession for the needs
of the world. For more information, contact Deacon
Mark White ([email protected] or 402 292-
7928).

“THE PATHWAY TO OUR CHURCH”
COMMEMORATIVE BRICKS
(AN ONGOING FUNDRAISER) We, the parishioners of St. Matthew, are the
foundation of OUR Church. As noted in our prayer
said together at the end of Mass, we must commit our
hearts, minds and finances to the spirit and actual
structure of OUR Church.
One fund-raising opportunity is the sale of these
bricks. The bricks, available for $100 each, will be
used to build the actual Pathway to OUR Church. In
the meantime, they’ll be used to line the sidewalks
leading into our current church. When the time comes,
they will be moved to the pathway.
On each brick you can make a dedication to your
family, your marriage, your children or in memory of a
loved one who rests in peace. It’s your brick and it’s
your choice of words.
Forms to purchase a brick are available in the
Commons, parish and school offices, online and
periodically in the bulletin. Simply fill out the form,
pay the $100 fee and be a part of OUR Pathway, OUR
church family and OUR History and, most importantly,
OUR future!
You may also order a brick by clicking the link on
our website: stmatthewbellevue.org
May God bless you and may God continue to bless
St. Matthew Parish, school and families.
GREENERY SALES Hi Parishioners,
Back by popular demand, the Christmas Greenery Sale is here. Everyone likes to have
fresh greenery for the holidays. This is a nice way to get great, long lasting greenery and
support the St. Matthew 8th grade class trip and their class gift to the school.
Take a look at the list, each item is freshly cut and shipped by UPS to ensure they look
and smell wonderful for the holidays! The greenery is shipped to us the first weekend in
December.
Eighth grade students will be taking orders on October 28th and 29th and Nov. 4/5
before or after masses. Come by, look at photos and see and smell the sample that will be
there.
Orders may be picked up between 3 and 6 on Friday, December 1st in the Commons.
Additionally, we are offering the option of individual deliveries to friends and family
elsewhere in the US, price includes delivery. It is a great gift to send to those special people in
your lives who you want to enjoy the smell and look of fresh cut greenery for the Christmas
Holidays. These deliveries are sent out the first weekend in December, too (There are no
deliveries to Alaska and Hawaii). Bring address of that special person if this is an option for
you.
Payment is due with the order. Cash is always a good option, but you can make checks
payable to “St. Matthew School”. Orders are due in school or parish office by November 6. Thank you. Any questions call Teresa Metzger @ 402-292-8899 or email [email protected]
