Violence is never a part of God’s plan who

works grace out of all destruction.

In the first reading, the prophet cries out to God

about violence and feels the isolation of God’s si-

lence. Too often, in families and workplaces, vio-

lence goes unchallenged. In the worst cases, peo-

ple of faith advise one another to go back into vio-

lent and unsafe spaces to “keep the peace” or as

part of the “sacrifice” demanded by one’s vocation.

In the second reading, Paul challenges his follow-

ers to receive Jesus’ powerful flame: “For God did

not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather of

power and love and self-control.” Our God worked

eternal salvation for all of us out of His Son’s vi-

cious murder, but that does not make crucifixion

any less evil.

There is a crisis of domestic abuse in our country,

a destructive legacy of sexual abuse in our Church,

and we must speak out against it at all times and in

all places, asking God to rebuild the destruction with

new life…

Pledge Campaign – Reflection

“Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under com-

pulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every bless-

ing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share

abundantly in every good work.” II Corinthians

Prayer:

Loving God, we ask you to fill our congregation with cheerful hearts, as we respond to

the opportunity to offer our commitment and support to the new Pledge Campaign.

Move us to generosity in your love as we dedicate ourselves to the work you have en-

trusted to us. We ask this in your Son’s name, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen

Pledge Campaign #3 Launch 19/20 Oct

To get our new Pledge Campaign off to a good start, please join us to enjoy a free hot

meal with fellow parishioners after either Mass on 19/20 Oct. To help you decide

which day you will attend, here’s what’s cooking:

The meal on Saturday 19 Oct, catered by Bob Ronnie, offers ham & scalloped pota-

toes, tortellini in marinara sauce, hot veggies, salads, and dessert.

For Sunday 20 Oct, Couples for Christ is providing pork caldereta, chicken & pork

adobo, pansit, spring rolls, meatball soup, A&W chicken, Caesar salad, and fruit salad.

Following each meal, we will host a short, interactive discussion of the new Pledge

Campaign goals and purpose. We encourage you to make your financial commitment

to “launch” the Campaign at these events. We look forward to seeing all of you there!

God Bless!
