The historical reality is Jesus of Nazareth lived, he died a horrible death. The historical reality is...something happened following his death, something so big that it changed human history. Hinges...can you imagine a world without them? As we journey

through life, we become so accustomed to certain things, we no longer

notice them, as long as they're working, that is. A rusty hinge, a

squeaky hinge, a broken hinge can't be ignored. In Adam Hamilton's,

24 Hours That Changed The World, Hamilton describes Jesus of

Nazareth, Jesus Christ, Jesus the Promised Messiah as "the hinge of

history". The historical reality is Jesus of Nazareth lived, he died a

horrible death. The historical reality is...something happened following his death,

something so big that it changed human history. Even time is measured by the life and

death of Jesus Christ. What was that "something" that changed the course of human

history? As Christians, followers of Christ, the life and eternity altering answer is

RESURRECTION! Without Christ's Resurrection, the once for all atoning, sacrificial,

life giving resurrection, God's redeeming purpose for all humankind is left undone.

Without the Resurrection, Jesus was no different than any other human who lived and

died. But something happened! Something that changed human history from that day

forward. All of human history is hinged by one homeless, itinerant preacher. God who

put on human skin because of this life and eternity altering hinge. Because of Christ, sin

no longer has control over us...unless our "hinge" is rusty, squeaky or broken. As we

come into the home stretch of Lent, the season of preparing our hearts and minds to

A NOTE FROM

GREG BUSH:

Can you believe that I have completed my first year serving at RUMC? Time has literally zipped past me. I have learned a lot during this period of time. What I have learned the most is that God’s grace is sufficient to get me through any obstacle, challenge, or burden. My family felt an enormous outpouring of your love as we mourned the passing of Kelly’s father. We are forever grateful for your support during this time. Scott Memorial hosted a discipleship rally at their facility. Dr. Chilcote was the guest speaker at this event. He broke down the meaning of a very familiar passage in Matthew 28:19,20. The word “go” does not mean go into a foreign land or places unknown; it means as you are going along your way. This is your every day journey into the community that you live, work, play, shop, and eat. These people are the ones that we are in charge of making disciples. Our community needs Jesus. We do not ignore the missions outside of our own community, but we also need to focus on our own community. Once again, we are making preparations to enter the mission field in a location away from home. We have planned a trip to Blue Rose Mission in Mansfield, Ohio. This mission trip is open to anyone wishing to attend. Space is limited at the Mission and I need to know ASAP, if you plan to attend. We will be leaving Sunday, July 9th after church and returning on Saturday, July 15th. We will be asking for you, the church, to help sponsor those wanting to attend this mission trip. There are posters with envelopes that have a specific dollar amount written on it. Take the envelope, fill out the card in it, place your money and card in the envelope, then put it into the offering plate. We want the youth to experience God at work through the faith and generosity of His people. You will notice poster boards with envelopes attached to them. Blessed in Christ, Greg

The first meeting will be held on Sunday, April 23rd at 6:00 p.m.

in the Sanctuary. This program is open to everyone. This includes friends and family members that do not attend worship at RUMC. Contact Marci Crawford at 740-381-5452 to reserve your spot today.

GOD’S COOKIN, WE’RE STIRRIN! Things you can't make up...more than a year ago,

God placed a ministry idea on the heart of a RUMC

lay person. They shared it, we prayed over it. It was a

God sized ministry idea, one that seemed far from

reach. BUT, God is in the business of cookin' up ways

to share Christ's love in our beloved community. Not

only did God spark a possibility, God placed a burden

for the un-churched, de-churched, and never-churched

in the Richmond community and our valley on the

heart of RUMC's Director of Discipleship. AND God

offered a way to make it happen through providing

financial resources from the East Ohio Conference.

The leadership of RUMC affirms what God is cookin'

up! A leadership team is being formed to discern how

we can best meet the needs of the community by

providing life transforming hope through Jesus Christ.

Please join us in prayer. Questions, please contact

Pastor Georgette or Greg. Watch the newsletter and

announcements for more information. By your prayers

and God's leading, this new ministry will begin

sometime in 2018. BOY SCOUT BREAKFAST The Boy Scouts will be having a Pancake

Breakfast on Saturday, April 8, from 8-10:30 a.m.
