Our guests included the Honourable Nicola Roxon, Attorney General, Hobson’s Bay Deputy Mayor Luba Gregorovitch and our School Council President Ann-Marie Lloyd. Yamba an aboriginal member, performed also and provided a smoking ceremony. Both Nicola and Luba were very impressed with the children and our new building. Book collection day is Wednesday 23 rd January between 8.30a.m. and 6.00p.m. SCOOTERS AND BIKES Some teachers are concerned about a number of children riding their bikes and scooters in the school grounds before and after school. This is very dangerous and we want to avoid accidents. We strongly urge parents to ask their child or toddler to dismount when in the school to help us keep everyone safe. Please remind your children about Stranger Danger and the importance of refusing and Reporting advances from strangers in cars. When sending in money for Incursions, Excursions, Fundraising etc., please send in the correct money and ensure that you have separate envelopes for each separate activity/event. We cannot accept foreign coins, as they are rejected by the bank, so therefore will be returned to you. Money is not kept in the office, so we cannot provide change. Parents need to give the correct money in a clearly marked envelope, in the mornings only, to the classroom teacher. Teachers are unable to accept money at the end of the school day as they are unable to leave money in the classroom. Cash payments are not accepted at the office. Parents are welcome to call into the school office to collect a few school payment envelopes to leave at home for this purpose. Alternatively, please ensure that the money is in a clearly marked envelope with students name, grade and amount and activity/event. Thank you for your co-operation.

otherwise they cost 10 cents each.

MAC BOOK RELEASE 4 2014
We have deployed 87 machines over the past two weeks. Students and
parents are still exploring the new platform. We will be conducting training
sessions for students next year. Mr Hill will support students in using the
mac platform. We will also offer workshops for parents at the beginning of
next year.
If you have any questions in relation to the MacBook program please con-
tact Dolores Giordimaina.
There are some machines that are yet to be collected. Can families con-
tact the school in order for the machines to be released.

NATIONAL ATHLETICS
CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to Grace Goldsworthy on her great performances at the National Primary School Athletics Championships last week in Adelaide. Grace competed in the 100m, 200m and Relay team for Victoria and did extremely well. She made both individual finals (2nd in 200m heat and 4th in the 100m heat in a personal best time). In the finals, Grace came 5th in the 200m in a personal best time and 10th in the 100m.
There were about 30-40 competitors in each event so it was a great effort to make each final at the National level. In the relay, Grace’s team also ran a fantastic race, coming second to the NSW team and earning a silver medal. Well done to Grace and her relay team on this great achievement.
Grace and her mum wished to thank the Seabrook school community for helping contribute towards her trip to Adelaide and they are grateful for all the support and proud to represent the school and wider community.
T20 BLAST REGIONAL FINALS Well done to our Boys and Girls teams who competed at the Regional Finals at Ascot Vale last Thursday. It was the hot 38
o day, but our students gave
their all and played really well. Unfortunately the competition was also very hot, with some excellent teams in both boys and girls divisions. In the girls games we lost to Our Lady’s the Nativity 216-110, however a few dropped catches resulted in the girls being much closer. In the second game against Altona, it was close the whole way through with both teams playing well in the warm conditions. We were pipped at the finish line by 1 run, 158-157 and although the girls were disappointed they were fantastic in the approach to the game and graciously congratulated the opposition in true Seabrook spirit. Their third game was another close one that could have gone either way. We lost 150-138 against St. Anthony’s, but with 12 the maximum you can get off one ball (6 in the double zone), it was only a shot or two either way the difference. The team was - Jessica Smith, Erin Keenan, Meg Horton, Samantha Tyrrell, Tina Arapidis, Anne-Sera Jayatilake, Maheen Ajmal, Kayla Hammersley, Gwyneth Lee and Jeannine Taleyratne.
In the boys games, the first game was also against Our Lady’s the Nativity and they scored 231-88. Apparently it was closer apart from a couple of big overs where they scored a lot of their runs. The second match was a bit closer with Melton with the score 165-63. We also lost the third match to St. Mary’s but we didn’t get the score from that one as everyone was trying to get out of the heat and head towards their buses. However the boys tried hard all day and displayed good sportsmanship at all times. Unfortunately the boys team lost six strong grade five students from the team who played on District day, due to an excursion they had to attend on the same day as this competition. The boys team included - Rory Kalnins, Harry Zarafa, Aidan Vander Linden, Zack Johnston, Matthew Micevski, George Tzanidis, Brady Cook, Kane Gramsbergen, Bandon Fumic, Amante Docherty, Jordan Themelkos, Jess Curry Hughes and Lachlan Wilson.
Well done to all players, Mr. Bell and a few parents who braved the heat to come and cheer on the teams.
