3ER DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO

A letter from the Pastor My dear People at Blessed Seelos Parish: Ordinary Time develops basic themes related to our faith, and last Sunday we mentioned that discipleship is the overall theme for this liturgical time of the year. In order to be disciples there is a need to enter into a meaningful relationship with God. In our lives, there are two main attitudes that could well summarize our relationship with God: gratefulness and dependency. We usually pray saying “thank you, Lord” or “help me, Lord.” These attitudes require a fundamental commitment to conversion. The Scripture readings today face us with that basic theme related to discipleship. Conversion is much more than just embracing a faith that we believe in, but it is the ongoing, every day, continual attitude of knowing that we need God and that we need to be grateful to God. Like the people of Nineveh and the people in the Gospel of Mark, we are being called to constant renewal and conversion. Our discipline as disciples is not for discipline’s sake, but to help us to be converted daily to the mission of the Lord and the mission of His Church. El Tiempo Ordinario desarrolla ciertos temas relacionados con nuestra fe, y el domingo pasado mencionaba que el discipulado es el tema general de este tiempo litúrgico del año. Para poder ser discípulos, tenemos que tener una relación especial con Dios. En nuestras vidas, existen dos actitudes que resumen nuestra relación con Dios: agradecimiento y dependencia. Usualmente rezamos diciendo “gracias Señor,” o “ayúdame Señor.” Estas actitudes requieren un compromiso fundamental a la conversión. Las lecturas de hoy nos encaran con este tema fundamental relacionado con el discipulado. La conversión es mucho más que simplemente abrazar la fe en la cual creemos, pero es una continua y diaria actitud de saber que necesitamos a Dios y que tenemos que serle agradecidos. Como la gente en Nínive y en el evangelio de San Marcos, estamos llamados a una constante renovación y conversión. Nuestra disciplina como discípulos no es por la disciplina en sí, pero para ayudarnos a convertirnos diariamente a la misión de Cristo y de Su Iglesia.

3 STEPS TO TRUSTING GOD MORE IN YOUR LIFE 1. Surrender yourself and all of your troubles to God. When you realize that there’s supernatural strength available to you from above, then your perspective on life will change. You can move from worry to worship by realizing that God is in control of every circumstance in your life. Let Him be the Master of you and of every-thing in your life. 2. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Your thoughts are extremely powerful and they can affect things like your mood, your attitude, and yes, even your actions. So when you find yourself thinking negative thoughts that are bringing you down, start thinking about positive scriptures that will lift you up. 3. Ask God to give you patience. It’s a fact that God will come through for you at just the right moment. He’ll never fail you. You’ll need to stay in prayer during this time because your faith will be tested. During your trial, ask God to give you patience and to help you trust that He knows what’s best for you. Remember, God is never a second late, He always shows up on time.

3 PASOS PARA CONFIAR MAS EN DIOS EN TU VIDA 1. Entrégate a ti mismo y todos tus problemas a Dios. Cuando te das cuenta de que hay una fuerza sobrenatural disponible desde arriba, entonces tu perspectiva de la vida cambiará. Puedes pasar de la preocupación a la adoración al darte cuenta de que Dios tiene el control de todas las circunstancias de tu vida. Déjalo ser el Maestro de ti y de todo en tu vida. 2. Reemplaza los pensamientos negativos con positivos. Tus pensamientos son extremadamente poderosos y pueden afectar cosas como tu estado de ánimo, tu actitud y, sí, incluso tus acciones. Entonces, cuando te encuentres pensando en pensamientos negativos que te están deprimiendo, comienza a pensar en escrituras positivas que te levantarán. 3. Pídale a Dios que le dé paciencia. Es un hecho que Dios lo hará por ti en el momento justo. Él nunca te fallará. Tendrás que permanecer en oración durante este tiempo porque su fe será probada. Durante su prueba, pídele a Dios que te dé paciencia y que te ayude a confiar en que Él sabe lo que es mejor para ti. Recuerda, Dios nunca llega un segundo tarde, siempre se presenta a tiempo.
