provide financial support for the Pope and

has evolved to fund the Holy See’s charitable actions

for those in need. THANK YOU, for standing in soli-

We remind all of the encouragement of our Holy Father

to understand that although the summer brings warm

and humid weather, our attire for attending Mass should

be respectful, whether it be the weekend or even during

the week. If our attire is possible appropriate for the

beach, it is probably not appropriate for church. This

simple consideration will help us all a great deal.

BEFORE entering the Church, kindly throw all

tissues/papers, gum, candies and or garbage in

the waste receptacle.

BEFORE leaving the Church make sure that you are

taking any personal belongings with you. (phone,

glasses, purse, wallet, scarves, baby toys, umbrellas,

etc).

Following these small steps will ensure everyone a

clean and litter free worship space for all to enjoy.

Introduction to the Liturgy of the Word

In today’s Gospel, Jesus, knowing what was to come,

“resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem.” On

this journey, which will stretch over many months of

readings from Luke’s Gospel, Jesus teaches his disci-

ples and the crowds how God wants us to live our

lives. Today we learn that discipleship demands a total

commitment. Listening to today’s readings, we have

the opportunity to think of what we are willing to leave

behind on our journey toward the kingdom of God.

What commitment have I made that was the most

transformative? How can my commitment to my faith

be more complete?

Introducción a la Liturgia de la Palabra

En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús, sabiendo lo que habría

de venir, “tomó la firme determinación de emprender el

viaje a Jerusalén”. En este viaje, que se extenderá por

un periodo de muchos meses de lecturas del Evangelio

de Lucas, Jesús les enseña a sus discípulos y a las mul-

titudes la manera en que Dios desea que vivamos nues-

tra vida. Hoy vemos cómo el discipulado exige un

compromiso total. Las lecturas de hoy nos ofrecen la

oportunidad de pensar sobre lo que estamos dispuestos

a dejar atrás en nuestro camino hacia el Reino de Dios.

¿Cuál de los compromisos que he hecho ha sido el más

transformador? ¿Cómo puede ser el compromiso con

mi fe mas completa?

TAKING TIME TO PRAISE GOD

Summer is a great time to expand your family’s use of

prayer in everyday life. Gratitude is a great starting

point. If you don’t already, start saying a table grace,

such as our beloved “Bless us, O Lord.” Try saying it

more frequently, such as before breakfast or lunch, or

when you are eating out. How about bedtime? With-

out school mornings looming, we can relax and spend

a little more time ending out day in prayer together. In

this summer time, our families can practice living more

fully Paul’s exhortation: “in everything, by prayer and

petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known

El verano es una excelente oportunidad para ampliar la

costumbre de orar en familia. La gratitud es un mag-

nifico punto de partida. Si no lo hace todavia, empiece

“Bendice, Señor, estos alimentos que….” Trate de ha-

cerlo con cierta frecuencia, para el desayuno o el al-

muerzo, o cuando comen fuera de casa. ¿Y a la hora

de ir a dormer? Puesto que no hay que ir a la escuela al

día siguiente, podemos relajarnos al terminar el día y

pasar un poco más de tiempo, juntos en oración. En el

verano, nuestras familias pueden intensificar las

palabras de san Pablo: “No se aflijan por nada, más

bien preséntenselo todo a Dios en oración, pídanle y
