Commemorate Anzac Day in IsaacThe Centenary of the Anzac lives on during Isaac Anzac Day services.

Mayor Anne Baker said this year marks a significant milestone in World War One, as we acknowledge the Centenary of the Somme.

“Almost 300,000 Australians served on the Western Front in France and Flanders, taking part in every major British Offensive between 1916 and the Armistice in 1918,” she said.

“More than 46,000 lost their lives, of whom some 18,000 have no known grave.

“This Anzac Day will touch many people in different ways, and I encourage the community to attend services being held throughout the region.

“There will be community breakfasts and luncheons to follow services, to commemorate this special occasion.”

Anzac Day dawn and morning services will be held in Clermont with the Dawn Service being held at 4.28am at the RSL and the Morning Service will be held at 9.30am at Hoods Lagoon.

For more details visit www.isaac.qld.gov.au/anzac-day or contact Isaac Regional Council on 1300 472 227.

Monster car boot sale and book fairContributed by Margaret Henn

The annual Anglican Car Boot Sale has come round again!

This will to be held on Saturday May 21 in the grounds of the

Anglican Hall and will take the form of past years-selling sites

available in the Church grounds and a Trash and Treasure

Sale in aid of the Church inside the hall.

This year it will incorporate a Book Fair where most books will

be available for $1 each. Books for every taste are available.

The breakfast barbeque will commence at 8am and the hall

will open at the same time for the sale of items donated to the

Church. The hall will close at 12pm.

Morning tea will be served in the hall from 9.30am.

Spaces to set up stalls will be available at a cost of $10 per

site outside the hall. It is not necessary to book, but sites

may be reserved by ringing Margaret 4983 1406 or 0427 622 662.

If it is wet, the event will continue inside the Hall.

Donations of goods for sale in the Trash and Treasure are

appreciated. The hall will be open to receive donated items

on Thursday April 12 or Friday April 13 in the morning. Items

may be delivered earlier by arrangement with Margaret on

4983 1406 or 0427 622 662.

If no one is at the hall, items may be left on the front porch

as we won’t be far away. It’s a chance to clean out your

cupboards and all wares will be gratefully received.

We already have an interesting array of second hand items,

some unused, plus furniture looking for a new home. It will

be well worth a visit to browse. You’re sure to pick up a few

bargains.

Remember “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.
