Dear Friends,
This weekend we are asking everyone to pledge to the Annual Catholic Appeal. I am asking everyone to consider a generous pledge so that we might achieve our goal ($90,000) and assist the charitable work of the Diocese of Brooklyn. As you see each week the renovation of the interior of the church continues. We are restoring the beauty and dignity of this beautiful temple. I am happy to report that our “old timers” – those who are here for 25 years or more – are giving positive feedback. Everything is going according to plan. I expect all the work to be complete in June. More than 300 of the young people from our parish attended a retreat yesterday at St John’s University. Now, we are getting ready for over 230 First Communions next month! We can only do all this great work with your prayers and your generosity. Please…keep up the good work!! Este fin de semana les pedimos a todos que se comprometan con la Campaña Católica Anual. Les pido a todos que consideren una promesa generosa para que podamos lograr nuestra meta ($ 90,000) y ayudar al trabajo de caridad de la Diócesis de Brooklyn. Como ven cada semana, la renovación del interior de la iglesia continúa. Estamos restaurando la belleza y la dignidad de este hermoso templo. Me complace informar que nuestros "veteranos" -aquellos que están aquí por 25 años o más - están dando comentarios positivos. Todo va de acuerdo al plan. Espero que todo el trabajo esté completo en junio. Más de 300 jóvenes de nuestra parroquia asistieron a un retiro ayer en la Universidad de St John. ¡Ahora, nos estamos preparando para más de 230 Primeras Comuniones el próximo mes! PILGRIMAGE TO PUEBLA & MEXICO CITY As you could see from last weekend’s pictures, our
pilgrimage was a great success. It was a moving
experience to visit the Shrine of Guadalupe and
celebrate mass there – twice! We also had the honor of
visiting the Cathedral in Puebla and presenting the
Archbishop with a $15,000 check for the victims of the
recent earthquake. The Archbishop offered us a
personal tour of his Cathedral and his private chapel.
Over all the prayer, the food, the drink and…the
mariachis… made this a fruitful experience for our
33 pilgrims who attended.
PEREGRINACIÓN A PUEBLA Y
LA CIUDAD DE MÉXICO Como pudieron ver en las fotos del último fin de
semana, nuestra peregrinación fue un gran éxito. Fue
una experiencia conmovedora visitar el Santuario de
Guadalupe y celebrar la misa allí, ¡dos veces!
También tuvimos el honor de visitar la Catedral en
Puebla y presentar al Arzobispo un cheque de $ 15,000
para las víctimas del reciente terremoto. El Arzobispo
nos ofreció un recorrido personal por su Catedral y su
capilla privada. Durante toda la oración, la comida, la
bebida y ... los mariachis ... hicieron de esta una
experiencia fructífera para nuestros 33 peregrines
que asistieron.
Approximately 10 adults are now preparing to receive the
Sacrament of Confirmation on Pentecost Sunday – May
20th. Deacon Daniel and our catechist team are offering
the formation classes. Keep them and their sponsors in
your prayers during this special time.
Aproximadamente 10 adultos se están preparando para
recibir el Sacramento de la Confirmación en el Domingo
de Pentecostés - 20 de mayo. El Diácono Daniel y
nuestro equipo de catequistas están ofreciendo las clases
de formación. Mantenlos a ellos y sus patrocinadores en
tus oraciones durante este tiempo especial.
A SPECIAL MAJOR EVENTS ANNOUNCEMENT The Diocese of Brooklyn's Assembly on Evangelization
and the Diocesan Celebration of the V Encuentro will
take place on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at St. John's
University in Jamaica, New York. Tickets are no longer
available! We have over 100 parishioners attending.
Busses will leave from the front of the Church -Whitney
Ave- at 7:15 a.m. This is only for those who have

This past Saturday, April 21- more than 300 young people from our parish attended the Diocesan Youth day at St John’s University, Jamaica NY. We had the largest group of any of the parishes in
the diocese of Brooklyn and Queens. This is a great blessing for our parish. Thank you to all of our parishioners for your ongoing support and prayers of our parish youth! Next week we will post pictures.

El pasado sábado 21 de abril, más de 300 jóvenes de nuestra parroquia asistieron al Día Diocesano de la Juventud en la Universidad de St John, Jamaica, Nueva York. Tuvimos el grupo más grande de cualquiera de las parroquias en la diócesis de Brooklyn y Queens. FEAST OF THE ASCENSION: We are told in Sacred Scripture and the Creed that “40 days after Jesus rose from the dead he ascended into heaven where he now sits at the right hand of the Father.” The feast of the Ascension will be celebrated on Thursday, May 10. Masses will be offered at 9 a.m. in English; 6:30 p.m. English and 7:30 pm Spanish. Masses will take place in the chapel. Exposition will be cancelled. FIESTA DE LA ASCENSIÓN: En la Sagrada Escritura y el Credo se nos dice que "40 días después de que Jesús resucitó de los muertos, ascendió al cielo donde ahora está sentado a la diestra del Padre". La fiesta de la Ascensión se celebrará el Jueves, 10 de mayo. Las misas se ofrecerán a las 9 a.m. en inglés; 6:30 pm. Inglés y 7:30pm Español. Misas tendrán lugar en la capilla. MARY, MOTHER OF THE CHURCH Pope Francis has added the memorial of “Mary, Mother of the Church” to the General Roman Calendar. It will be celebrated annually on the Monday after Pentecost. This year, that falls on May 21. We will celebrate a special mass with music at 9 am in English and 7:30 pm in Spanish. MARÍA, MADRE DE LA IGLESIA El Papa Francisco ha agregado el memorial de "María, Madre de la Iglesia" al Calendario Romano General. Se celebrará anualmente el lunes después de Pentecostés. Este año, eso cae el 21 de mayo. Celebraremos una misa especial con música a las 9 a.m. en inglés y a las 7:30 p.m. en español.
