DOUBT -- The desire to be able to prove the existence of a divinity has troubled humanity since human consciousness first became aware of the divine. To this very day we are fond of saying that any number of things—from sunsets to hot fudge sun-daes—are “proof that there is a God.” We get so caught up in the story of “doub ng Thomas” that we fail to no ce that today’s Gospel gives us John’s account of Pentecost, the bestowing of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples following the Resurrec on. Thomas, evidently, missed out not only on seeing the Risen Christ, but receiving the Holy Spirit as well. This is not to be taken lightly and, perhaps, makes Thomas’ disbelief a bit easier to comprehend. It also makes his pro-fessing that Jesus is his Lord and God—the only me the New Testament explicitly refers to Jesus Christ as “God”—more remarkable. - J. S. Paluch Co.

Reflec ons on the Word of God with Fr. Oswaldo and Fr. Gene Read Acts 4: 32-35 1 John 5:1-6 John 20: 19-31
The victory that conquers the world is our faith.
Charles de Foucald was born in 1858, he became a very wealthy man, and lived a life that shocked many. He described his own life saying, “I was so completely selfish, so completely vain, so completely irreligious, and u erly
given over to wickedness, that I was only one step away from insanity.” Charles wondered if God even existed at all. However, he would enter St. Augus ne Church repea ng over and over, “My God if you exist, let me come to know you.” At one Mass, as the priest elevated the Consecrated Host, the people heard him say, “My God, you are real!” A erward, he explained to the many who disliked him, “In an instant my heart was touched, and I believed.”
The Eucharist, un l his death, dominated his whole life. He encouraged others to visit Jesus Christ in the tabernacle that they too may be touched, share in his discovery, “that Power which erring men call change.” He composed this prayer: Oh Jesus! Present in the Blessed Sacrament you give us solace and refuge. You give us faith, hope, love, and hospitality. You build for us an inner retreat, an ardent repose. Help us to seek you and find you in the tabernacle.
Jesus reacted to Charles and many others in the same manner as he did with St. Thomas. In pa ence Jesus doesn’t abandon anyone, some mes he gives a week, other mes several years. When he hears the desire in anyone to see him, Jesus strengthens their desire, builds the faith, and tries the person’s pa ence. When he sees a soul trying to believe, yet, just about ready to give up he pours out his mercy. The unbelief and powerlessness of a soul now becomes a new crea on exclaiming as St. Thomas and Charles did, “My Lord and My God!”
Where in life do you doubt the power in the Eucharis c Jesus? What turmoil are you enduring? Are you ready to quit the faith, or do you know someone who is? Offer the prayer Charles composed, or simply invoke Divine Mercy with the words, “Heavenly Father, see me through Jesus, Jesus invite me to touch your wounds to be healed and victorious with faith in you.” Persevere, listen to His voice within, and believe.

Sacrament of Marriage The Pastoral Guidelines for Marriage Preparation are that a minimum of 7 months be set aside for personal preparation for marriage. Couples should refrain from setting a firm date until after they have called the office to discuss marriage plans. Weddings are celebrated Saturdays at 2pm.
