IMPORTANT DATES AND EVENTS

WE WOULD LIKE TO WISH ALL OF OUR

MUMS, GRANDMOTHERS AND AUNTIES

A WONDERFUL AND RELAXING MOTHER’S DAY.

Mother’s Day Prayer

Loving God,

We thank you for the love of the mothers You have given us,

Whose love is so precious that it can never be measured,

Whose patience seems to have no end.

May we see Your loving hand behind them and guiding them.

We pray for those mothers who fear they will run out of love,

or time, or patience.

We ask You to bless them with Your own special love.

We ask this in the name of Jesus, our brother.

Amen

WINTER UNIFORM

WINTER UNIFORM

Students should all be in their complete winter uniform by Monday 13th May 2019.

The winter uniform is available for purchase for the students who need a new winter uniform.

The winter uniform includes:

FOR GIRLS

A checked tunic, yellow long sleeved shirt, tie and navy blue tights.

FOR BOYS

A yellow long sleeved shirt with the school logo, a tie and navy blue pants.

There is a blue jacket to go with the normal everyday uniform, and a green jacket for the sports uniform.

NAPLAN

Our Years 3 and 5 students have four assessments coming up. It is an opportunity to take a ‘snapshot’ of each student and we gain an enormous amount of data from these assessments. Keeping in mind that it is only one assessment over the year we try to minimise anxiety with the students by not overwhelming them with hype about testing.

Congratulations to the Vella family (Jason in KB) on the birth of their little boy Dominic. We wish

their family all the best.

PARKING AROUND THE SCHOOL

It's easy to forget how unpredictable children can be. Before and after school they are excited about seeing their friends or their parents and can easily forget how to keep themselves safe near traffic. As adults, it's our responsibility to be extra aware when driving around schools, especially at times when children might be about.

Community Law Enforcement Officers patrol our schools during school drop-off and pick-up times.

Police also keep an eye out around schools. We ask for your assistance by doing the right thing every time, whether you are just driving through the area or are involved in dropping off or collecting children from school. We all need to work together to keep children safe as they travel to and from school. Be aware that some offences have higher fines in school zones than in other areas and some also include demerit points.

Please respect all families and carers who use our car ‘Drop Off and Pick Up Bay’ on Armitage Drive. This area is NOT to be used for parking and leaving your car. At all times, the driver needs to remain in the car to ensure the drop off and pick up works safely and efficiently. A reminder that police and council officers regularly patrol (as has been the case recently) and fine drivers.

We would like to say thank you to all the parents who helped out with the Mother’s Day Stall today. Natasha Soulsby, Vicky and Ravi Maharaj, Sherilyn Ribaya, Sandrine Difranco, Jehan Tarona, Samira Girn, Nikita Dalwadi, Jose Peter, Florence and George Farrales, Jennifer Dunk, Tya Shen, Leonie Soulsby, Jo and Stephen Duff, Liz Price, Michelle Kelly, Michelle Torrisi and Lily Dowd.

MOTHERS’ DAY HELPER

ABSENCES AT SCHOOL

If your child is absent from school, parents and carers are required to contact the school by 9.30am on the first day of their absence with either a Skoolbag notification, email or phone call. Every Friday a letter will be sent home regarding an absence if it remains unexplained. Could you please sign the letter, add the reason to explain this absence and return it to the student letterbox. This letter will continue to be sent home if the absence remains unexplained. From time to time the letter may not have been received by the office once signed by a parent, so a second letter may be sent home. Thank you for your understanding.

SCHOOL PHOTOS

School photos will be held on Monday 17th June. Photo envelopes were sent home with your children today. You can order online using the code YVN ME5 LQ5. If you order online you do not need to return the envelope. If you are paying by cash please do not return them to the office. They need to be brought in with your child on the day of the photos. The correct money needs to be in the envelope as we do not collect these at school. Sibling photo envelopes are available from the office. These can also be ordered online using the code above. Students need to wear THE NEW FULL WINTER UNIFORM. NOT SPORTS UNIFORM. Even if it is your child’s sports day, they will need to wear their FULL WINTER UNIFORM.

Some of our families here at St Francis Primary School would have received the following letter via email from CEDP. If you are one of the families who received this letter but have not completed the survey please do this before the 31st May 2019.

Dear Parents

Our school requires accurate and up-to-date student information as part of our duty of care and to support the needs of all learners. To ensure the information we currently have is correct, we are asking families to validate key information such as contact details and emergency contacts.

To access the survey and to ensure you are completing it for the correct child/children, you will need to provide the following details when you login in:

1. Your family code, which is <xxxx>

2. Date of birth of the eldest child still attending a Catholic school in the Parramatta diocese

(dd/mm/yyyy)

We ask families to complete the survey by 31 May 2019. Any questions about the survey can be directed to the Community Liaison team on 9840 5796.

Thank you for your support of this important project.

Regards Jenny Bellenger Principal
