With a suggested $50 donation to St Paul, you can make arrangements with LiO Floral, which our parish is blessed to have as our florist, for our basic weekend flowers at the Ambo. When you make your donation at the Welcome Center, we will make note of the date of your specific intention. Ministry and Continuing Education for Adults Because Our Faith is too Rich to have ever Learned it All…

Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected] for more information .

Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living “The Way” taught

by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the faith and deepen

their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a diverse community

with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have learned along the way.

Are you Thinking about Becoming Catholic? Then please join us at the weekly Inquiry session that takes place every Sunday after the 9 AM Mass. The group meets in the Conference Room from about 10:15-11 AM. Contact Heidi at [email protected] for information..

Are you Prepared for next Sunday’s Mass? It’s important to come to Mass with an understanding of the readings that will be proclaimed that day. Next Sunday is the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time; the Gospel reading is Luke 10:25-37, where Jesus

uses the parable of the Good Samaritan to illustrate what loving your neighbor is meant to look like. Jesus is inviting us to take love of neighbor to an entirely new level by a surprising suggestion as to how inclusive we must be in our understanding of “neighbor.” Who is you neighbor and how are you being called to serve?

Calling all Male Cooks and Hungry People! The most delicious fund raiser of the year, Men Who Cook, is just around the corner and in need of cooks to compete and hungry people to taste their delicious offerings! The event is set for Saturday, August 13, from 6:30-10:30 PM. Tickets go on sale July 18, and they are $35 in advance and $50 at the door. Tables for eight—which include 2 complimentary bottles of wine and 4 commemorative cookbooks—are available for $400 each. To volunteer, contact Carl at [email protected] or call 281.413.0653.

Confirmation for Adults If you or someone you know is a baptized Catholic who has received first Eucharist but has not been confirmed, please contact Heidi Clark to make arrangements to complete your sacraments of initiation: [email protected] or 281.333.3891, Ext. 328.

Over-50 Ladies Lunch Bunch Ladies of the parish are cordially invited to take part in the next lunch bunch gathering set for Wednesday, July 13, at 12:30 PM at Mom Alone on NASA Parkway. Contact Mary Sue Anton to RSVP by calling 281.474.3373.

Next Men’s ACTS Retreat Registrations are being taken to attend the next men’s ACTS retreat scheduled for Thursday, September 1 to Sunday, September 4. Contact Bob Milmoe to get one: 409.795.7227.

Welcome the Stranger! Our parish namesake said it best in his letter to the Hebrews: “Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels.” Even though our parish has a reputation for being warm and welcoming, it can sometimes be difficult to know what to say to someone you don’t recognize at Mass. Here are some good options: “Welcome to St. Paul’s.” “I’m glad you’re here this morning.” “I haven’t met you yet….I’m ___.”

In-Parish Couples Retreat Make plans to attend this 1½-day parish-based event, September 17-18, which focuses on helping couples create the marriage they have always dreamed of. Living in Love helps couples get in touch with the resources that draw them to each other. There is no large group discussion or

open sharing. Saturday goes from 8 AM -9 PM and includes a lovely candlelight dinner. Sunday ends by 3 PM and includes Mass. The retreat takes place at our parish so participants can sleep at home and simplify child care. Living in Love has special appeal to men who find it refreshingly positive, proactive, and energizing. Contact Heidi to register: 281.333.3891 or [email protected].

Café Catholica for Young Adults Join hundreds of young adults at these popular events on Monday, July 11, 18, and 25, at St. Vincent de Paul, 6800 Buffalo Spdwy. This year’s theme is Reawaken Mercy; the evening schedule is confessions at 5:15, Mass at 6:15, dinner at 7:15, and the talk at 8:15. The first talk is on Compassion, Community, and Christ featuring newly ordained Fr. Preston Quintela.

Want more culture, but can’t travel? Host two teenagers in your home for the United Space

School!

Host homes are needed for two well-deserving boys or girls (as appropriate) for two weeks, from July 17th to August 1st. During those weeks, the teens will be participating in a group project Mon-Fri at UHCL. They will be part of the United Space School, a 501(c)(3) private foundation with a mission to provide space-based academic instruction to international pre-collegiate students, while offering an introduction and orientation to the aerospace industry.

As part of that mission, the teens experience life in an average Texas home – which is where you are needed!

Also, there are family events and teen group events during those two weeks – so you can join in their fun! In the end, your family will make international friendships that can last a lifetime! Volume XVIII No. 1843 Fourteenth Sunday In Ordinary Time July 3, 2016

The Church is the house and Body of Christ.

We have to take care of it.

Our festival is the largest fundraiser of the year and a big source of income for our church. Join this community effort to raise funds, allowing our parish to provide both physical and spiritual support to members of our community.

1 - Ask places you frequent for donations (i.e. your company, your suppliers, doctors, stylist, restaurants, etc.). Donations are to St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church. No donation is too big or too small and most donations are tax deductible. Examples for donations are gift cards, event tickets, auction items, certificates for services, checks, etc.

2 - Explain why donations are important St. Paul has been serving the Clear Lake community for over 50 years and has over 2,600 registered families. Any size contribution will help us continue to serve the community of Clear Lake

We appreciate your attention to this worthy cause. Your help and participation will make this Festival a great success!

We are always in need of help in all areas of the festival. If you are looking for a way to serve, this is a great opportunity. You are welcome to help the weekend of the festival or join the festival team and help us with planning and organizing this year's event.

We are in need of a Raffle Ticket Coordinator and

Facilities Coordinator. The Raffle Ticket Coordinator helps organize the weekly raffle ticket volunteers. The Facilities Coordinator prepares site plans, arranges for delivery of tents, tables, chairs, etc. For more information, please contact Cynthia Lopez at 832.687.6513.

St. Paul Traveling Vocation Chalice Sign Up . . . The St. Paul Parish Vocation Committee would like to encourage parishioners to sign up for the St. Paul Traveling Vocations Chalice. Each week a different St. Paul parishioner will take the chalice home and use it as a focus of their prayers for vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and religious life. At the end of the week, the parishioner will be responsible for returning the chalice so it can be passed on to the next parishioner. We hope this tradition will continue to aid that effort and bring in new laborers into the fields. If you would like to sign up please contact Tom or Mele Paul. 281-338-7285 or [email protected]

Al final de la semana, el feligrés será responsable de devolver el cáliz para que se pueda pasar al siguiente feligrés. Esperamos que esta tradición continúe para ayudar a ese esfuerzo y traer nuevos trabajadores en los campos.
