THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
First Reading: Amos 7:12-15 Amaziah (priest of Bethel) ordered Amos to leave Bethel and never prophesy there again. Amos replied that he had not been a prophet; but was a shepherd until he was called by God.
Second Reading: Ephesians 1:3-14 or 1:3-10 Paul exults God’s immeasurable generosity as he recounts all the blessings that have been bestowed upon all God’s people. We all became adopted children of God when we heard the message of truth Christ brought to us, and because of it, believed in him.
Gospel: Mark 6:7-13 Jesus gave the twelve disciples authority over unclean spirits and sent them out to preach and heal the sick. He advised them to bring nothing with them and to shake the dust from their feet of any town where they had not been welcomed. Jesus wanted them to understand what they would need to do in his place after his death. ©1999 Bon Venture Services, Inc.
HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, as he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will, for the praise and glory of his grace that he granted us in the beloved.”
A lengthy introduction to Saul’s letter to the Ephesians, not revealing his own identity, but that of all Christians. Through Christ we have been gifted with so much including His choice of us with our calling to be holy, that is, living in His grace and friendship.
Identity is so important. We hear so much about identity theft. Here we learn that we are not only especially chosen; but adopted giving us all the rights and privileges which are given as our inheritance. They cannot, in the words of Pope Francis, be taken from us. As I recognize my special identity and status, I ask that I move beyond self and see those same gifts in others. Made in His image and likeness, I want to be able to join with them on my journey, as they too share in the same gift and
destiny.

A Rachel’s Vineyard weekend retreat is an opportunity for any woman, man, couple, grandparent or sibling who struggles with the emotional or spiritual pain of abortion. This powerful experience allows the soul to speak its sorrow, as participants enter the grieving process, identify effects the abortion had and release deep feelings of anger, shame, and guilt that frequently accompany an abortion experience. This unique retreat process is designed specifically to help retreatants experience the gentleness, mercy, compassion, and the unconditional love of Jesus as they walk through the journey to forgiveness.
The next Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat will be held in Stockbridge, MA on the weekend of July 20-22. If you or a friend are hurting from an abortion experience don’t delay, take the first step toward healing. Please call (413 452-0661) for more information or to register for a weekend. You may also call Suzanne (203 417-0504) with any questions. All calls are confidential.
“Love isn't a state of perfect caring. It is an active noun like struggle. To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way he or she is, right here and now.” Mister Rogers
