Note from Pastor Eucharistic Adoration EUCHARISTIC ADORATION is held on the first Friday of each month. The next adoration will be Friday, July 6th, beginning at 7:00 PM until 12:00 AM. You are invited to any hour on the hour. If you have any questions, please call the Parish Center.

The final report for the 2017-2018 United Catholic Appeal was emailed to the parishes on June 14th. St Mark Community gave generously to support the many ministries of our Archdiocese. Thank you for your giving and sharing in the works of Christ in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Fr Bill

We are blessed to have Fr. David BuNyar at St. Mark more often starting June 30, 2018. In the past Fr. David has been coming every other weekend and leaving on Tuesday morning after Mass to work at the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Catholic Center. With the new assignments in our archdiocese Fr. David’s time will be alternating only between St. Pius and St. Mark parishes. The way the schedule is arranged he begins each week on Saturday morning and is available at the parish till Thursday Night. So, Fr. David’s week runs Sunday through Thursday every other week at St Mark. He will live at St. Pius and commute to St. Mark. You may not have noticed Fr. Joe Feltz much around St. Mark since his full time assignment is as the Personnel Director for Priests and Religious for the archdiocese but Fr. Joe has had his full time residence at St. Mark rectory the past two or three years. He will be moving to a new rectory sometime in July. I am encouraging parishioners who submit comments for “the Good of the Parish” to include their name. “The Good of the Parish” is a good idea surface needs and address needs in our parish community. It says much about our Pastoral Council willing to address concerns from parishioners. The idea strives to deepen community and increase communication. I hope, you can see how an anonymous submitted comment undermines the open and authentic communication we are trying to create. In a practical sense, an anonymous comment rapidly turns into a personal complaint rather than healthy criticism to help our whole parish get even better. Please know, anonymous comments will continue to be accepted, read and addressed by the Pastoral Council with Christian love. Blessings and Peace, Fr Bill

With Fr. David spending more time at St. Mark, he will be celebrating more Masses. And the Saturdays he will be presiding at Mass, he will be available to hear confessions. For those interested in knowing when he will be celebrating Mass, as well as Deacon Paul, a schedule for is listed: Fr. David: Deacon Paul July 15th, 7:30am July 8th, 9:30am July 29th, 9:30am July 14-15, All Masses

W e pray for the repose of the soul of …..

Therese R. Cain

St. Mark extends condolences to her family. May God grant eternal rest to her and His consolation to her family and friends. May the soul of Therese, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace

Raise them up to eternal life, O Lord, and hold them in the palm of your hand.

God, Our Father, Giver of Life, We Entrust our Nation to your loving care. Your are the rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Reclaim this land for your glory and dwell among your people. Send your spirit to touch the hearts of our nation’s leaders. Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that ac-company human freedom. Remind your people that true happi-ness is rooted in seeking and doing your will. Through the in-tercession of Mary Immaculate, patroness of our Land, ,lead us into a new millennium of life. We ask this through Christ, Our Lord, Amen.

Second Collection REFUGEE QUESTIONS ANSWERED! Heidi Smith from the Archdiocesan Refugee Resettlement program will speak at St. Mark at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18th. Her remarks will include who is eligible for refugee resettlement, how they apply, where they are sent, what is done to help the families when they arrive and more. There will also be a question and answer segment during the program in the church and light refreshments in Schaefer Hall to offer an opportunity to talk about the presentation. Everyone is welcome! SOUTHSIDE FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE: The St. Mark Athletic Committee is accepting flag football registration for 2018. Boys and girls entering grades K-2 are eligible to play and the registration fee is $60.00. This season we are using a web-based registration process. All information and fees will be collected at our new website located at http://tshq.bluesombrero.com/southsideflagfb. Registration deadline is August 10th, practices will begin on August 13th, and the first games scheduled for August 25th. The season ends on September 29th. Practices are normally once per week and are scheduled by the coaches. Games are held on Saturday mornings at St. Mark. For more information, contact Patrick Collier at [email protected].

INCLUSION MINISTRY: Communicate Wisely - Speak directly to a person with a disability at his or her eye level, not to an adult or sibling who is with the person. To ignore someone because of the presence of a disability is insensitive React to and treat persons with disabilities as if they are healthy. Disability does not mean illness.

Applications are being accepted for the position of Director of Parish Services for St. Mark the Evangelist Parish Office. If interested, qualified applicants should email a resume and cover letter to the Parish Business Manager, Joe Horan, at the Parish Office.([email protected])

Social Concerns Hello! By now we have all seen the pictures and read the stories of the troubling situation that is taking place on our southern borders where children are being separated from their families. Though steps are now taking place to help families stay together, we must remain diligent through prayer, education and action that the best interests and the dignity of all families and their children are being upheld. Sr. Donna Markham OP PhD, President and CEO of Catholic Charites stated, “Surely as a nation we can debate that best way to secure our border without resorting to creating life-long trauma for children, some whom are mere toddlers… Securing our borders does not and should not come at the expense of our humanity.” Over the last several days I have received calls and emails from many of you who are concerned and would like to do something...anything...to make a difference. Go to www.catholiccharitiesindy.org to learn more about the Catholic organizations that are making a difference and need your support. Sincerely in Christ, Theresa Chamblee Catholic Charities - Social Concerns WHAT IS SOCIAL CONCERNS? SAVE THE DATE: Parish Social Ministry Gathering, Saturday, August 25th. Keynote speaker will be Archbishop Charles C. Thompson.
