Christ the Servant An-

niversary Couples

Congratulations to all our cou-

ples who celebrated their anni-

versary’s this past weekend at

the Basilica of St. John's with

Bishop Murry and those who have celebrated anniver-

sary’s during the year.

The celebration at St. John’s was an absolutely beautiful

and an inspiring ceremony. I was particularly

impressed watching the couples as they recited their

vows – the looks of love and devotion in their eyes told

their shared journey. It was without a doubt a

wonderful witness to the power of love – a sacramental

love that spoke loudly in a culture where the words

faithfulness and commitment sometimes have little

value.

For each of our couples- may God continue to be the

third companion in your continuing journey. If you are

celebrating an anniversary please let us know at the of-

fice so that we can acknowledge you and the witness of

your lives for our community.

Pope Francis on the Sacrament of

Marriage

In speaking to the young at World Youth Day, Pope Francis reminded them that, God calls you to make de-finitive choices, and he has a plan for each of you: to dis-cover that plan and to respond to your vocation is to move toward personal fulfillment. God calls each of us to be holy, to live his life, but he has a particular path for each one of us. Some are called to holiness through fam-ily life in the sacrament of Marriage. Today, there are those who say that marriage is out of fashion. Is it out of fashion? In a culture of relativism and the ephemeral, many preach the importance of "enjoying" the moment. They say that it is not worth making a life-long commitment, making a definitive decision, "forever", because we do not know what tomorrow will bring. Continued on Page 3...

I ask you, instead, to be revolutionaries, I ask you to swim against the tide; yes, I am asking you to rebel against this culture that sees everything as temporary and that ulti-mately believes you are incapable of responsibility - that believes you are incapable of true love. I have confidence in you and I pray for you. Have the courage to swim against the tide. And also have the courage to be happy.

Feast of All Saints

Friday, November 1, 2013 is the Feast of All Saints. The Feast this year falls on a Friday. Vigil Mass for All Saints will be held on Thursday Evening at 6:00 p.m. ; Holy Day Mass will be on Friday at 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 Noon. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will fol-low the 9:00 a.m Mass until 11:45 and will resume after the 12 Noon Mass. Benediction and Reposition of the Sacrament and the Litany of the Saints is at 1:45 p.m. The Feast of All Saints is the day following All Hollows Eve. We remember and celebrate the lives of those who lived heroic lives of virtue and provide for us models of ordinary people who lived their lives in an extraordinary manner. We call these people Saints. We name them saints, not because they are dead, but because when they were alive they lived heroic lives. St. Paul called those people living in the early Christian

Communities “Saints” as he would call us today. We are

each called to live out our ordinary lives in an

extraordinary manner. Like the early Christians, and

those who heroic persons who have gone before us, it

still remains a challenge for each of us today to be living

Saints.

Commemoration of All Souls

Saturday, November 2, 2013 is the Feast of All Souls. Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.

Jesus told his disciples: I solemnly assure you, unless

the grain of wheat falls to the earth and dies, it re-

mains just a grain of wheat. But if it dies, it produces

much more grain for everyone. If anyone would serve

me let him follow me; where I am there will my

servant be.

Mass of Remembrance

On Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 7:00 p.m., we will have our annual Memorial Mass for all those who have died this past year at Christ the Servant. More informa-tion will be coming. All are welcome at this Mass remembering the lives of those who have shared in our community. However the names of those who have completed their earthly journey this year will be re-membered by name at this Mass.

I, John, saw a new heaven and a new earth. I heard a

loud voice cry out: “This is God’s dwelling among the

people of the earth. God will live with them and they

will be his people, and he will be their God who will be

with them always. God will wipe every tear from

their eyes, and there will be no more death or

mourning, crying out or pain, for the former world

has passed away.” Then God said “See, I make all

things new.”

Please join us for coffee and donuts today after 9am mass.

We need more help. Alumni and Current Parents of our Holy Cross Academy -Our Lady of Peace Campus I want to thank so many of you who have responded generously to the Matching Fund Appeal for our Lady of Peace Campus. Because to your sacrificial giving, we now have a 1:1 iPad for our 6-8 and we will be able to provide Chromebook computers for our 6-8 classrooms. The $24,000.00 Matching Fund Gift Appeal to Holy Cross Academy at Our Lady of Peace is meant estab-lish a 1:1 iPad program, science tables, window blinds and new lighting for our students. Both the science lab and the iPad program will allow our children a 21st Century tool to both organize and further their education with excellence. To the Parents of our Students: Per pupil cost at Our Lady of Peace approximates $4,600.00 per year. Our parents this year alone have received a $2000.00 scholarship each in providing a reduced per pupil cost for the first student. We ask you to considering giving a gift toward the Matching Fund Appeal. To the Alumni of Our Lady of Peace: We would invite you to share in providing for the new generation of students who now attend Our Lady of Peace. Remembering what we received foundationally here at Our Lady of Peace would result in a welcome response to share in the Catholic education of our current chil-dren. Your continued belief in the value of a Catholic education has been and continues to influence the lives of so many. It is an investment with so many returns. Sincerely, Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano, Pastor

United States Cadet Corps and graduate of St. Thomas

Hospital School of Nursing. She served as a Registered

Nurse at Aultman Hospital in the nursery and she helped

open the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. With the consent

THE ELDERLY NEED YOUR CARE &

ATTENTION There is no one in the community of Christ the Servant Par-

ish who needs and appreciates any care and attention that

can be given to them more than the homebound elderly.

The parish is in need of Eucharistic Ministers who are will-

ing to take the Eucharist to the homebound. Please consider

this ministry with great thought. It doesn’t take a large

amount of time and is so appreciated. If you are interested,

please call the parish office at 330.492.0757 and your name

will be given to Angie.

Also, if you are homebound and would like someone to

bring you the Eucharist or would just like someone to visit

with you once in a while, please call Angie at

330.966.2073. She will arrange someone to visit you.

All hospitals and nursing homes in our boundaries

(Bethany, Stones Crossing and Canton Christian Home)

already have volunteers who do this. If you know of some-

one in the hospital or a nursing home that has not been

visited, please call Angie and she will look into it. Thank

you!

Just a reminder

Please remember to make checks out to “Christ the

Servant Parish” and not to OLOP or Our Lady of Peace.

If you have a change of address or seasonal absence please

inform the parish office. Thank you for your cooperation!
