Sixth Sunday of Easter

We hope for many things: passing an exam, finding our true love, securing sustainable work, or surviving an illness. We often seek to have God be a part of what we hope for and desire, almost trying to convince Him that our agenda is what is ultimately important. While our particular hopes may appear to be what needs to be achieved in order for us to be happy, they really are not. Our lesser, more personal hopes can distract us from true hope. When God became a human being, a powerful message was sent: all that is authentically human is found in the divine. As the human Jesus lived and died in order to show us that he truly is the universal Christ, we have to keep our sight focused on our eternal truth and destiny and who we truly are. We have to be careful when we allow our earthly concerns to distract us. True hope is found when we place our trust in Christ’s promises and don’t rely on our own strength. True hope focuses on striving toward the fulfillment of God’s promises and not simply on achieving what we think we need in this life. Hope always travels with two friends — faith and love. In this trio of virtues, we find the very presence of God born in every human being. These are God’s greatest gifts, and they lead us to the fullness of His presence. As with faith and love, we cannot see hope with just our human eyes. We don’t carry this virtue within us to use solely for our own personal agenda. Hope is not something that simply comes with the human package. As with faith and love, hope is a gift that is given to us to draw us closer to our eternal truth. Faith, hope, and love are signs that there is something far greater going on in us and something greater to persevere in obtaining. The true divine gift of hope is what will endure any hardship we encounter, especially those that will come from authentically living the Gospel. With all that is happening in our lives, in our church, and in our world, what is the reason for our hope? Ask God for the fortitude to see His eternal gift as the reason we get up in the morning and do the things we do.

Sexto Domingo de Pascua

El Señor Jesús comienza a dejar su testamento a sus discípulos; empieza a despedirse de ellos. Sus palabras son de gran aliento para ellos y para nosotros en este tiempo: “No los dejare huérfanos, sino que volveré a ustedes. Dentro de poco el mundo ya no me verá, pero ustedes me verán, porque yo vivo y ustedes también vivirán. Aquel día comprenderán que yo estoy en mi Padre y ustedes están en mí y yo en ustedes.” (Juan 14:18-20). Que amor tan grande de Jesús y que consuelo para todos cuando dice “no los dejare huérfanos.” La Pascua es experiencia viva del resucitado; es vivir en la intimidad con Él. La vida del cristiano tiene que tener este tiempo de búsqueda, tal como los discípulos lo hicieron durante la Pascua en los tiempos de Jesús. Dentro de dos domingos celebraremos la Fiesta de Pentecostés. El Señor a dicho, no los dejare en la orfan-dad, vendrá otro que los iluminará y dará gozo y energía nueva en la Iglesia naciente. Solo pide disponibili-dad; estar listos con el corazón abierto a la gracia de recibirlo. Pero, la pregunta que surge en muchas perso-nas, especialmente los jóvenes que buscan modelos a seguir; ¿Dónde está Jesús? Pues, está en los padres de familia que se esfuerzan todos los días en educar y cuidar a sus hijos. En los sacerdotes, diáconos, religiosos, religiosas y laicos comprometidos en la lucha por la justicia y la paz. En su Palabra proclamada cada domin-go en la Eucaristía. Cuando lo recibimos en los sacramentos o lo visitamos en el sagrario. En el prójimo que sufre. En fin, podría enumerar muchas otras formas. Sin embargo, no olvides que lo vemos con los ojos de la fe, iluminados por el Espíritu Santo. ©LPi

What’s Happening? It’s official! The building project is complete. Our bright and beautiful parish center is everything we hoped for .... spacious and func-tional office space, perfectly designed chapel, and a bigger and better SVDP! But we’re sad to say there’s one thing missing....the hustle and bustle of parishioners! As we continue to “stay home and stay safe” because of the coronavirus pandemic, our planned dedication on April 4 was put on hold and parishioners missed the opportunity to walk through our wonderful new facility. We are hopeful our faith com-munity will be gathering together soon and our parish activities will return with increased focus and purpose. Even though our parking lot is empty and the church doors remain closed, it’s important to remember that the mission of our parish continues. Through prayer, sin-cere worship, and trust in our Lord and Savior, we know God is with us. To rest in the hands of God means we are secure, despite the uncertainty of life. The final invoice from O’Brien has arrived and the updated finance information is listed above. We ask that you con-tinue to support the Capital Campaign during this uncertain time if you are blessed with the finan-cial resources.

Prayer to Mary during Coronavirus Pandemic O Mary, you always brighten our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, took part in Jesus’ pain while remaining steadfast in faith. O loving Mother, you know what we need and we are confident you will provide for us as at Cana in Galilee. Intercede for us with your Son Jesus, the Divine Physician, for those who have fallen ill, for those who are vulnerable, and for those who have died. Intercede also for those charged with protecting the health and safety of others and for those who are tend-ing to the sick and seeking a cure. Help us, O Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Je-sus, who took upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows, so as to lead us, through the Cross, to the glory of the Resurrection. ¿Qué está pasando? ¡Es oficial! El proyecto de construcción está completo. ¡Nuestro brillante y hermoso Centro Parroquial es todo lo que esperábamos ... espacios de oficina grandes y funcionales, capilla perfectamente diseñada y un banco de alimentos más grande y mejor! Pero nos entristece decir que falta una cosa ... ¡el ajetreo y el bullicio de los feligreses! A medida que continuamos “quedándonos en casa seguros” debido a la pandemia de coronavirus, nuestra dedicación planificada para el 4 de Abril se suspendió y los feligreses perdieron la oportunidad de visitar nuestras maravillosas y nuevas instalaciones. Tenemos la esperanza de que nuestra comunidad de fe se reunirá pronto y nuestras actividades parroquiales volverán con mayor enfoque y propósitos. Aunque nuestro estaciona-miento está vacío y las puertas de la iglesia permanecen cerradas, es importante recordar que la misión de nuestra parroquia contin-ua a través de la oración, la adoración sincera y la confianza en nuestro Señor y Salvador. Sabemos que Dios está con nosotros, descansar en las manos de Dios significa que estamos seguros, a pesar de la incertidumbre de la vida. Oración a María Durante la Pandemia del Coronavirus

Oh María, siempre alegras nuestro camino como señal de salvación y de esperanza. Nos confiamos a ti, Salud de los enfermos, quien, en la Cruz, participó en el dolor de Jesús mientras permaneció firme en la fe. Oh Madre amorosa, sabes lo que necesitamos y estamos segu-ros de que nos proveerás como en Cana en Galilea. Intercede por nosotros con tu Hijo Jesús, el Médico Divino, por aquellos que han caí-do enfermos, por aquellos que son vulnerables, y por los que han muerto. Intercede también por los encarga-dos de proteger la salud y la seguridad de los demás y por aquellos que atienden a los enfermos y buscan una cura. Ayúdanos, Oh Madre del Amor Divino, a confor-marnos a la voluntad del Padre y a hacer lo que nos dice Jesús, quien asumió nuestros sufrimientos y llevó nuestras penas, para llevar-nos, a través de la Cruz, a la gloria de la resurrección.
