Growing in Grace Time of New Life

Prayer for the Week: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world!

“My sanctity and perfection consist in the close union of my will with the will of God." ~Diary of Saint Faustina, 1107

Our Lord Jesus Christ, in private revelations to Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, expressed a deep desire for souls to experience the Fountain of His Mercy. As a poor Polish Nun, Saint Faustina was reluctant to tell anyone about these experiences with Our Lord until her Confessor di-rected her to write down her conversations with Jesus. She wrote more than 600 pages of dialogue which now comprise the “Diary of Saint Faustina.” Devotions to the Divine Mercy have sprung from these dialogues including:

    · The Feast of Divine Mercy celebrated the first Sunday after Easter

    · Novena to Divine Mercy prayed for the 9 days prior to Divine Mercy Sunday

    · The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

    · The Hour of Great Mercy at 3:00 pm every Friday

    · The Image of Divine Mercy The Feast of Divine Mercy was requested by Jesus in the revelations to St. Faustina and established for the Universal Church on April 30, 2000, by Pope Saint John Paul II.

“I desire that the first Sunday after Easter be the Feast of Mercy” (Diary, 299).

“I demand the worship of My mercy through the solemn celebration of the Feast and through the veneration of the image which is painted. By means of this image I shall grant many graces to souls. It is to be a reminder of the demands of My mercy, because even the strongest faith is of no avail without works” (Diary, 742).

Help Keep the Light On The work of our mission is ongoing, despite the changes and challenges of our times. Now more than ever as we face this health crisis togeth-er, we ask you for your continued generous financial support. Please help us “keep the light on” until we are able to open our doors again and greet you all at Mass. With no public Masses, the collections are significantly down, even though the work goes on. There are a number of ways you can give:

    · Donate securely online at stphilipcc.weshareonline.org · Mail a check to 1897 W. Main Street, Lewisville, TX 75067

However you can give, your generosity is very much needed, and very much appreciated.

St. Philip Fall Craft Fair Calling all crafters and artists! Do you have some extra time on your hands now? How about using this unique time to create some of your specialties for the 2020 St. Philip Craft Fair, to be held this Fall!

This year we will expand our craft offerings beyond religious crafts, (but religious crafts are still encouraged). More information will be provided in time, but we wanted to invite you to get started at this time when many of us are in our homes. We will also seek the involvement of oth-er ministries as we did in 2019.

Remember, all crafts are donated, and all funds raised are for the Church Building Fund. In 2019 we raised $10,000. Let's see how much better we can do this year! Happy creating!

New Charitable Giving Deduction for 2020 The CARES Act establishes a new, above-the-line deduction (universal or non-itemized deduction that applies to all taxpayers) for total chari-table contributions of up to $300. The incentive applies to contributions made in 2020 and would be claimed on tax forms next year.

Christ Child Bakery Delivers! Since we cannot have our usual after-Mass coffee hour, the Christ Child So-ciety is bringing their Bakery to you! Email [email protected] to sign up to have delicious baked goods (made according to FDA food safety guidelines) brought to your door. CCS Bakery is limited (at this time) to the first 50 families to respond, so sign up quickly to get on this list!
