From Fr. Davy’s Desk: We read in the Gospel this weekend Jesus saying: “Whoever loves me will keep my

word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with

him.” This is great news for us! God is making our home his dwelling place! Home means dif-

ferent things to different people. For some people, home is just a place where we sleep. It pro-

vides a safe haven from the world and nothing more. Indeed as long as home provides a bed

and some food, that’s enough. Homes are places that nurture us, places we rest comfortably in

and places from which we launch ourselves into the world. We need to open our home for God

to come in and stay.

This Saturday sixteen young adults receive the sacrament of Confirmation. They invite

the Holy Spirit into their hearts allowing the Spirit to stay with them forever. We do a lot of

renovation to make our home better. We see a lot of commercials on the television with the

recommendations and the products to make our dwelling places better. The founder of our

CMI religious community, Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara, wrote to the members, “the size of

the monastery doesn’t depend upon the thickness of the wall or the height of the building but

depends upon the zeal and the unity of the members live inside the monastery”. It is true with

every home. We don’t need to have a fancy apartment or huge building to stay. What makes a

house a family is the unity and the zeal of the members. It is possible by giving a place to God

in our hearts and house. God’s dwelling with us will bring us real love, unity and peace.

As we continue doing renovation on our houses and apartments we need to make our

home the dwelling place of God. We pray Jesus and Mary come to our home and transform it

to a peaceful home. As the newly confirmed go home taking the fruit and the gifts of the Holy

Spirit with them, let us pray that the love of God and the abiding of the Holy Spirit transform

us. Congratulations to the newly confirmed young adults and thanks to the teachers and par-

ents who prepared them. Fr. Kavungal Davy, CMI

Padre Kavungal Davy, CMI
