It is a great program and they all have a wonderful time doing all sorts of activities together. Dear Parents, This week the students in Years 3 and 5 will be undertaking their NAPLAN Assessments. This will run from Tuesday to Thursday with Friday as the catch up day. The results will be made available later in the year. All students are currently involved in a range of learning assessments that the teaching staff are using to assist in the writing of this semester’s reports. Reports will be issued on Friday 14 June with Parent-Teacher interviews to be held in the following two weeks. Thank you to Mrs. Colquhoun for running the district cross country last Friday. It was by all accounts a very successful day with a number of our students moving onto the Regional Carnival. Also on sport, we have decided to hold this year’s athletics carnival at Beaton Park on Wednesday 12 June. The reasons for this include: equipment (ours does not meet legal requirements), better facilities including grand stand viewing, and the opportunity for students to participate at a competition standard venue. Trish Davis and I attended a community meeting in Balgownie where the P&C were presented with their recognition certificate for successfully applying for a grant for the laying of artificial turf under the COLA. Can I express the thanks of the school for the work that went into writing up the grant proposal and the resultant benefit that all of the students will gain from this. Mr Ryan Park MP will be visiting the school this Friday. Robert Cusack Principal

Better Buddies 2013 At the beginning of each year at Lindsay Park, Year 6 students are teamed up with our

new Kindergarten students as part of ‘Better Buddies’. It is a great program and they all

have a wonderful time doing all sorts of activities together.

    Dear Parents,

This week the students in Years 3 and 5 will be undertaking their NAPLAN Assessments.

This will run from Tuesday to Thursday with Friday as the catch up day. The results will be

made available later in the year. All students are currently involved in a range of learning

assessments that the teaching staff are using to assist in the writing of this semester’s reports.

Reports will be issued on Friday 14 June with Parent-Teacher interviews to be held in the

    following two weeks.

Thank you to Mrs. Colquhoun for running the district cross country last Friday. It was by all

accounts a very successful day with a number of our students moving onto the Regional

Carnival. Also on sport, we have decided to hold this year’s athletics carnival at Beaton Park

on Wednesday 12 June. The reasons for this include: equipment (ours does not meet legal

requirements), better facilities including grand stand viewing, and the opportunity for students

to participate at a competition standard venue.

Trish Davis and I attended a community meeting in Balgownie where the P&C were presented

with their recognition certificate for successfully applying for a grant for the laying of

artificial turf under the COLA. Can I express the thanks of the school for the work that went

into writing up the grant proposal and the resultant benefit that all of the students will gain

from this. Mr Ryan Park MP will be visiting the school this Friday.

  • Term 2 P&C Update

The P&C and the community have been very busy this year. Last Friday our P&C provided the canteen facilities at the District Cross

Country Carnival. It was a very successful fundraiser for our school, thank you to all of the parents who assisted. I would like to say a

special thank you to Sue for organising and coordinating the event.

The P&C would like to welcome our new canteen co-ordinator, Elisabeth Schott. We look forward to working with her on continuing

to build and improve our canteen and its service to our children. Many thanks to Carol, Sue, Kerryn and Paul who made sure that

things ran smoothly until we were able to hire our new coordinator.

At the end of Term One the P&C was informed that we had been successful in our application for a grant under the Community

Building Partnership Program. We had applied for $15,000 to go towards the improvement of the area under and around the Primary

COLA. There are still a few steps in the process before we receive the money, but we do hope to have the improvements completed

    before the Fete in October.

On April 7, the P&C held a card class fundraiser. There was a raffle and silent auction. All prizes were donated by Stampin Up. Thank

you to Sam for co-teaching the event and to Kerryn , Sue , Kellie and Leonie for providing the afternoon tea.

If you missed out on purchasing an All Rounder lunch bag from the fundraiser held last term, we ordered some extra bags which are

available for purchase from the uniform shop for $10. These bags can be used for canteen orders and there is a zip pocket on the front

of the bag for putting the money in.

Upcoming events and meetings for Term 2:

    Tuesday 14 May 2013, 7pm - P&C Meeting

    Monday 3 June 2013, 6.30pm – Fete Meeting

    Tuesday 11 June 2013, 7pm – P&C Meeting

    Monday 24 June 2013, 6.30pm – Fete Meeting

If you would like to be on the mailing list to receive meet-

ing and event notifications, please send an email to our P&C email address: [email protected]

Despite the mess they created on the path outside the

    DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY

Well this was another event that made me feel proud and lucky to belong to Lindsay Park P.S.

I need to thank all of the staff, students and community for helping to make this day such a

success. Thank you to Sue McCartney and her team of hard working parents, we were definitely the most well

organised and best catered for school carnival canteen ever. The hours and energy you all put into running

the canteen on Friday was amazing.

To the students of LPPS, you coped with the warm weather and challenging course so very well. It was just

lovely to see so many blue and gold singlets crossing the line with smiles on their faces.

A big congratulations goes to Riley Caldwell (1st 8/9 year old boy), Rhys Cattle (2nd 8/9 year boy), India

Akonnah (4th 10 year girl) and Blake Barklay (2nd 12/13 year old boy) who will be representing our school at

the Regional cross country in Nowra. We wish you all the very best of luck.
