04.02.2016
A special welcome to our new Kindergarten students and all
our other new students and their families to Lindsay Park.
We hope you have a wonderful 2016.
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the first edition of the 2016 Tallong. The Tallong is issued each fortnight on a Thursday. A copy of the Tallong is
also placed on the school’s website, a link is on our app and spare copies are available from the Administration Office. I f you
do not have the school app for your mobile device I would encourage you to do so. It is available free of charge from the
Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. Through the app you can directly email your child’s absence note, change of address
details and send a message. All of these emails are directed to the Principal in the first instance.
The first meeting of the P&C will be held next Tuesday evening in the Library commencing at 7.00pm. The P&C is an im-
portant part of Lindsay park and it has direct input into the management decisions and operation of the school. I would encour-
age your attendance at the meeting.
The school successfully conducted its swimming carnival on Wednesday and I would like to thank the staff and the parents who
volunteered their time to make it such a positive time for our students. The results of the carnival will be made available at a
later date.
Our students in Years 1 to 6 commenced their learning programs from Day One and with our Kinder students commencing this
week we are now in a position to know our student numbers for this year. We will at this stage be maintaining the class struc-
ture that we have started the school year with. Final confirmation of the school structure will occur in a few weeks when the
Department of Education issues the final staffing figures for the year based on our actual enrolments.
This is an important time for our school as we welcome new members to our community and I would like to take this oppor-
tunity to extend a big welcome to Lindsay Park for our new students and families. The 2016 meet the teacher and back to
school BBQ will be held on Friday 19 March from 3.00pm. A separate note concerning this was sent out with the Tallong so
please come along and meet your child’s teacher and have a look at their classroom.
HOUSE CAPTAINS 2016 Congratulation to our new House Captains for 2016. They commenced duties at the Swimming Carnival on Wednesday and did a great
job.

Pre loved uniforms.
Our uniform pool stocks are running quite
low at the moment, particularly blue polo
shirts, sports shirts, culottes and sports
shorts. If you have any uniform items that are in good
condition but no longer fit your child, it would be greatly
appreciated if you could drop them in to the school office
so we can add them to our pool of second hand uniforms.
BEGINNER BRASS BAND
On Thursday 11/2/16, Year 4-6 students will have a
visit from the Wollongong Beginner Brass Band.
This is a community organisation that runs a local
band and is giving our students the wonderful oppor-
tunity to have a turn at actually playing these instru-
ments. Any families who would like further infor-
mation about this band should see Mrs Lobina 3/4L.
A reminder to parents to notify the
school about your child’s health
We welcome information from parents about your child's health,
even if you are not requesting specific support from our school. Our
school asks for medical information when you enroll your child. It
is also important that you let us know if your child’s health care
needs change or if a new health condition develops.
Information about allergies, medical conditions such as asthma and
diabetes and other health care related issues (including prior condi-
tions such as medical procedures in the last 12 months) should be
provided to the school by parents. Please provide this information in
writing to the Principal. This will greatly assist our school in plan-
ning to support your child’s health and wellbeing.
Please also remember to notify staff in the school office of any
changes to your contact details or to the contact details of
other people nominated as emergency contacts.
We appreciate your assistance in this regard.
TEXT BOOK INVOICES
Next week we will be issuing the invoices for textbooks.
The children have already begun
using their books in class. The
school has paid the supplier in
excess of $30,000 for these books
so it would be greatly appreciated
if you could pay as soon as possi-
ble, if you need to pay the books off please make arrange-
ments through the school office. Payment is by cash or
cheque only, we do not have EFTPOS.
NO PARKING ON SCHOOL GROUNDS
A reminder to all parents and carers that there is no park-
ing on school grounds at any time. By entering the school
in a vehicle you are putting the safety of our students and
staff at risk, this includes both car parking areas, these are
strictly for staff only. Thank you for your cooperation in
this matter.
OBEYING TRAFFIC SIGNAGE
Please ensure that you observe the road rules and parking
signs when dropping off or picking up your children.
Take a moment to read the instructions for the “Kiss and
Drop Zones” (they are posted at the front of the school
and outside the kindergarten rooms). The road rules and
parking zones are set by the government and local council
not by the school. If you do not obey these signs and rules
you could be up for a hefty fine and you are also putting
the lives of children at risk. Please be responsible and
think before you park or drop off your children unsafely.
HEAD LICE
We have had a couple of cases of
head lice reported to the school.
Please check your child’s hair and
treat if necessary.
Children with Pediculosis (headlice
cannot be readmitted to school until
fully treated and all eggs removed.
FOUND
A pencil case containing various items was found in the park
at the rear of the school. If you have lost your pencil case
