“Come and See”

from the pastor…

Corpus Christi Sunday – In the Gospel of John (17:16-17,20-21) Jesus is praying to his Father and ours and he is praying for us. “They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. I pray…that they may all be one, as you Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us.” Clearly the will of God is that we all be one; that we be united in the Holy Spirit. Yet, today there are so many different Christian denominations. We acutely feel this division at the time of Holy Communion during the Mass. At this time we must recognize that all Christians are not in communion or united with one another. Guidelines for the reception of Communion can be found on the last page -368 of your missalette. To admit non-Catholic Christians to Holy Com-munion is simply wrong. Many of them don’t believe in the real presence. They don’t believe that the bread and wine actually become the Body and Blood of Christ. Many of them believe that it is only a symbol. They also don’t believe in the Sacrament of Confession (John 20:21-23). As written above, Jesus prayed Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth.”

Read the 2 pages of Chapter 6 of the Gospel of John. There you will find The Bread of Life Discourse. In verses 64 and 66 we read the words of Jesus But there are some of you who do not believe. As a result, many of his disciples returned to their for-mer way of life and no longer accompanied him.” Verse 34 reads “So they said to him, Lord give us this bread always.” The Body of Christ; The Blood of Christ. Amen.

Next weekend is the Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time. The readings at Mass will be taken from Ezekiel 17:22-24; 2 Corinthi-ans 5:6-10, Mark 4:26-34. Come prepared.

Congratulations to all our Graduates – May you continue to use your God given gifts in the service of God and to serve oth-ers, just as Jesus came to serve. Use your education to confirm your faith, which leads to eternal life. Don’t allow the devil to dupe you into using poor reasoning to undermine your faith. Lose your faith and in time you’ll discover how lost you really are. Keep the faith! Congratulations also to your parents and loved ones who sacrificed and supported you along the way. May God continue to bless you.
