Die kriekehet Somerset-Wes oorgeneem enbaljaar selfs op die Strand. Moetons die A-team inkry om kriek-plaag te bestry? Die probleem is,die dorpe se strate is vuil en metrommel besaai. When it comes to fighting offthese two antisocial gremlins, pre-vention is definitely better thancure.“A tickle in your throat, a fuzzy

headorachesandpainsare the firstsigns of getting a cold or flu and itis essential to act quicklywhen youfeel any of these symptoms,” saysPeter Jordan, principal officer ofFedhealth.Jordan suggests drinking water

as soon as you start to experiencesymptoms. “Staying hydrated cutsdown on symptoms like a sorethroat and a stuffy nose,” he says, adding that it is also a good idea togargle with salt water.“Add half a teaspoon of salt to a

glassofwarmwaterandgargle.The

salt draws out the excess water inyour throat’s tissues, reducing theinflammation and clearing the mu-cous and irritants from the back ofthe throat.”Another good suggestion is touse

a saline nasal spray to keep yournose clean as this will reduce theimpact of the symptoms.

“One or two tablespoons of rawhoney also makes for a great alter-native to cough medicine,” saysJordan.

“And, if you can stay at home, rather skip work for a day. Yourbody can fight off the virus betterif you are rested and your col-leagues will thank you for notmak-ing them sick too.”

“A hot shower before bed willhelp you to get a good night’s rest.If you start feeling a fever comingon, start vomiting or have a badheadache, call your doctor,” saysJordan.
