THIS WEEK ANNOUNCEMENTS AND UPCOMING EVENTS

THE PATH TO THE NEW EVANGELIZATION

Readings for the Week

CHURCH IN AFRICA COLLECTION This weekend for Archdiocese The Church is Africa is the fastest grow-ing Catholic community in the world. As it is, however, the Catholic Churches in Africa are ministering to many, many people who lack food and water, basic medical care and struggle with illiteracy. This Special Archdiocesan Collection will assist the Church in Africa to provide not only spiritual, but also needed material support for the Catholic population it serves. Donations can be left in the silver bowl in the center aisle after Masses this weekend. Checks can be made out to the Archdiocese of Denver (put “Church in Africa” in the Memo).

AD GENTES MISSIONARY

Mother Lucia Benedict Azoba, AGM of the Ad Gentes Missionary Congregation has been invited by the Archbishop to visit Denver area parishes. The Archdiocese is sponsoring their missionary aimed at empowering poor women and children in Nigeria. She will be speaking at all of the Masses this weekend.

CATHEDRAL CLUB & CATHOLIC SINGLES REUNION

A Cathedral Club/Catholic Singles Reunion has been scheduled for August 1st from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm and will be held at the KOC (Knights of Columbus) on 1555 Grant St. in Denver.

Contact Rich Ziegler at 303-733-9353 for more details.

“As God is increasingly pushed out of our society in favor of a self-centered, technology-driven existence, our collective moral compass loses its bearings…. Never before in history has a society tried to exist without any reference to God or a deity of some kind, as Western society is attempting to do now. Even in primitive societies, people worshipped what they believed to be nature gods that gave them an established set of values that differentiated between right and wrong. In contemporary West-ern society, good and evil are being cast aside in favor of follow-ing passions and indulging desires. Each person is left to per-sonally decide what is good and what is evil with no reference to any objective criteria….as G.K. Chesterton put it, “The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried.”

Most Reverend Samuel J. Aquila.

It combines Biblical study, with a broad overview of Catholic doctrine mixed in with Catholic worship and prayer aimed at helping newcom-ers find a spiritual home in the Catholic Church. Classes will be held weekly on Tuesday nights from 7-8:30 PM. If you are interested, please call Jay at the Parish Office at 303-364-7435.
