Roof met verswarende omstandig- hede het ook drasties toegeneem met 105 sake aangemeld in die mees on- langse finansiële jaar, teenoor die 77 gevalle wat aangemeld is van April 2012 tot Maart 2013. Inbrake by huise is op van 283 (April 2012 tot Maart 2013) tot 311 (April 2013 tot Maart 2014). Moord is af van 13 tot nege, terwyl poging tot moord gestyg het van agt tot 10 in die afgelope finansiële jaar. Sy sê die statis- tieke is hoër as verlede jaar omdat dwelmverwante misdaad slegs deur aktiewe polisiëring aangemeld word. “Die Macassar-polisie hou gereeld operasies om dwelmverwante mis- daad te bekamp.” Sy meen die werkloosheid, dwelm- verslawing en ander sosiale proble- me dra by tot die misdaadsyfers in Macassar. ments will be read by the authorities whowill make a decision and that the numberof “new voters” will not tilt the balance...It is indeed time that the authorities “adhoc” start to think about the well-being ofALL their citizens rather than their voternumbers!What bothers me more and more is the
complicity of the SAPS with the criminals!It isa fact, thathasbeenbrought to theatten-tion of the public by the Department of Jus-tice, thatanythreateningwitha firearm(re-al or false!) in an assault, robbery, criminaloffence, etc. will henceforth lead to a mini-mum of 10years jail sentence.Hence,whenapersonisassaulted,robbed
while threatened with a handgun, notwith-standing the declaration of the robbed per-son, the statement by the police is always
“robbery” and never stated as threatenedwith a firearm (real or false!).The SAPS officer who writes the docket

Young Bafana player trainswith top DRC soccer clubTalented soccerplayerSihelePeter(a grade 10 learner at HottentotsHolland High School) and BerndSteinhage (founder of Young Bafa-na Soccer Academy) recently spenta week at the TP Mazembe soccerclub in Lubumbashi, in the Demo-cratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The visit came about after Sihelewas selected by Young Bafana to visittheir partner club TP Mazembe andspend a week training with the clubtoexperience lifeatoneofAfrica’sbestjunior soccer academies.Sihele thoroughly enjoyed his week
at the club and his visit to the DRC.A typical day at the academy which
Sihele was able to experience startswith breakfast before the playersboard the bus for the stadium to prac-tise. After practice they go back to the
academy to study for twohours. After this lunch isserved which is followedby a one-hour afternoonrest. After the rest theplayers go back to the sta-dium for the second prac-tice session of the day.Sihle plays for the
