2 Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time September 18, 2016

Question of the Week

Question for Children: Clothes, food, toys all cost money. How do you keep your faith more important than money?

Question for Youth: The Gospel tells us that money can get in the way of serving God. How can you use all that you have (possessions, money, time, talent) to serve God?

Question for Adults: Money is an important part of modern life. Suggest one or two ways you can keep the need for money in balance with your faith.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS The Second Vatican Council has called us to envision the Church as the people of God. As a community of believers we are responsible for our brothers and sisters, their salvation, their journey of faith, their physical well-being. Many of the documents of Vatican II and volumes of work since the mid-1960s give us advice, guidelines, and encouragement to take care of one another: the poor, the elderly, the unborn, the broken, the infirm. Because Vatican II is part of our recent history—indeed many of us were already born—this may strike us as a new and revolutionary idea. But today’s readings show us the agelessness of the issue of social justice. Eight hundred years before Christ was born, Amos warned the wealthy not to cheat the poor. In Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he encourages all prayers to be for all people; and finally, the Gospel urges the wise use of money. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Copyright © J. Next weekend, Sept. 24 & 25, are the final days for returning the baby bottles with your donations for our local pregnancy center here in Yucaipa. We want thank you for your continued generosity as this center provides counseling for at risk pregnancies and on going support and aid to local families who need a hand up. So please tie a string or ribbon around your finger as a reminder to return all bottles next weekend.
