THE MAN OF THAT FRIDAY! "... They whipped Jesus and handed Him over to be crucified ... After they mocked him, they took off the soldier's cloak, put his clothes on and took him to be crucified” (Mt 27: 26-31)
Christ came out carrying the cross. It was a show, it was fun, it was a celebration for the city. Many laughed, many enjoyed it. It was a funny scene. Those who did not laugh were hidden: they felt pity, they felt pain, they only prayed. They could not do anything ... They were afraid, afraid of the people, afraid of the weight of the cross. They were ashamed to appear foolish, to be "clowns" for the people, ashamed of the laughter of others. Christ came out alone with the cross: It was the cross that had to be carried at the expense of Adam, of Cain, of Ju-das, of Annas and Caiphas, of the Priests, of the Phari-sees, of Peter, of Pilate, of the hidden disciples, feeling only grief, pain, and praying ... It was the cross that should be at the cost of the people laughing, on my back, on your back, on our backs ... You and I cannot do it: Because we have no formation, because we have committed no crime, no sin; because we are "good" people; because we call ourselves Catholic, because we have many commitments; because we are al-ready doing many things; because we do not have time to carry the cross, because we cannot bear to carry the cross. Society places the cross at the expense of men: poverty without solution; of prostitution; of the lack of what is necessary for life; the cross of the care of the house, of education of the children; of crazy and sick jealousy, of infidelity, of machismo; of inattention; of irresponsible divorce; of freedom without education; of illness, of slan-der, of persecution, of humiliation, of lack of service, of loneliness, of sin, of pride, of indifference. Everyone sees, everyone looks ... And Christ continues to die: on our streets, in our schools, in factories, in offices, in fami-lies, in the countryside and even in our own church-es ... Reflect and make up ! With you !

EL HOMBRE DE AQUEL VIERNES! "... A Jesus lo hizo azotar y lo entrego para que fuese crucificado... Después que se burlaron de El le quitaron la capa de soldado, le pusieron su ropa y lo llevaron a crucificar" (Mt. 27,26-31). Cristo salió con la cruz acuesta. Era un espectáculo, era una diversión, era una fiesta para la ciudad. Muchos reían, a muchos de aquellos les causaba gracia. Era una escena divertida. Los que no se reían estaban escondidos: sentían pena, sentían dolor, solamente rezaban. No podían hacer nada... Tenían miedo, miedo del pueblo, miedo del peso de la cruz. Tenían vergüenza de ser ridículos, de ser "payasos" para el pueblo, vergüenza de la risa de los otros. Cristo salió solo con la cruz: Era la cruz que debía estar a cuesta de Adán, de Caín, de Judas, de Añas y Caifás, de los Sacerdotes, de los Fariseos, de Pedro, de Pilato, de los discípulos escondidos, sintiendo solamente pena, dolor, rezando... Era la cruz que debería estar a cuesta del pueblo que reía, en mis espaldas, en nuestras espaldas... Yo, tu, nosotros no podemos: Porque no tenemos formación, porque no cometemos ningún crimen, ningún pecado; porque somos gente "de bien"; porque somos muy católicos, porque tenemos muchos compromisos; porque ya estamos haciendo muchas cosas; porque no tenemos tiempo para cargar con la cruz, porque no aguantamos cargar con la cruz. La sociedad coloca la cruz a cuesta de los hombres: de la pobreza sin solución; de la prostitución negociable; de la falta de lo necesario para la vida; la cruz del cuidado de la casa, de la educación de los hijos; del celo loco y enfermizo, de la infidelidad, del machismo; de las desatenciones; del divorcio irresponsable; de la libertad sin educación; de la enfermedad, de las calumnias, de la persecución, de la humillación, del servicio, de la indiferencia, de la soledad, del pecado, de la soberbia, de la indiferencia. Todos ven, todos miran... Y Cristo sigue muriendo: en nuestras calles, en las escuelas, en las fábricas, en las oficinas, en las familias, en el campo. The blessing of the Palms reminds us of the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. We also receive Him as OUR GOD AND KING, who comes to Save us.
