Today we welcome Fr. Christopher Kituli to our parish community. Fr. Chris was ordained for the Archdiocese in 2010. His first assignment was at St. Damien’s in Oak Forest where he spent 5 years ministering to people. He is coming to Queen of Martyrs from St. Daniel the Prophet where he spent the last year. I look forward to working with Fr. Chris as he begins his ministry. I would ask you to welcome Fr. Chris and introduce

yourself to him. Next Sunday, please join us after the 9:30AM and 11:30AM masses in the St. Joseph Room to stop by and say hello.

Next Sunday after the 7:30AM Mass, we will bless our teens and adults from our Youth Ministry Program who will be leaving for Harlan, Kentucky on their Mission Trip. Your support and generosity made it possible for this event to take place. I would ask you to pray for those going on this trip for a safe journey as they prepare to help the poor. They will be returning next Saturday evening. I look forward to hearing and reading about their reflections and insights they experienced while on their journey in future bulletin articles.

I want to thank Mrs. Jennie Schmitt and Deacon Bob and their committee for the wonderful job they did in hosting Fr. Kevin’s farewell reception. Thanks to all who contributed their time and talent. It was a a memorable and uplifting celebration. Fr. Kevin was truly touched and tremendously grateful for your support and well wishes.

This weekend we celebrate our nation’s independence. On Monday, the 4th of July, all are invited to attend the 9:00AM Mass to observe the 240th anniversary of our becoming a nation. May your journey’s and travels be safe. The rectory will be closed on Monday.

A reminder that there will be NO 4:00PM Mass on Sunday, July 10 due to the teens going on the Mission Trip. The 4:00PM Mass will resume next Sunday, July 17th. I would ask you to note this change and adjust your schedule accordingly.

Have a good week.

God Bless,

As we celebrate our independence this weekend with picnics, trips to the lake, fireworks, and just getting together with friends, let’s remember how those freedoms came about and be thankful for them. Do a favor for someone, lend a helping hand, or just be nice to someone for no reason at all! Enjoy your holiday and take time to reflect on the true meaning of Independence Day.

Queen of Martyrs Students Experience “Bubble Wonder”

Mr. Geoff Akins Hannah brought his creative “Bubble Wonders” show to Vitha Hall as part of the “Pawsome” Award Assembly. Each Quarter Queen of Martyrs students receive a blank “Pawsome” card that allows them to earn paw prints for good behavior, excellent classroom work, great listening skills, being courteous, and going out of their way to help fellow classmates as well as teachers and staff. Once students receive 25 paw prints they drop their card into the “Pawsome” Raffle Box for the opportunity to win fun prizes at the end of the quarter “Pawsome Assembly”. Students are encouraged to fill up as many cards as possible during the quarter as a way of reinforcing good behavior and reminding them that being kind and helpful is always the right thing to do! Queen of Martyrs Principal, Mrs. Kathleen Tomaszewski, invited Mr. Akins Hannah to present his inspiring, educational, and captivating bubble show to reward the students for filling up an exceptional amount of “Pawsome” cards. Mr. Akins Hannah demonstrated his bubble proficiency by blowing caterpillar bubbles, volcano bubbles, and his famous “Kid’s Inside a Bubble”, in which students and staff had a soap bubble formed around them. Mr. Akins Hannah demonstrated to the students his theme of staying positive as a way of helping their dreams come true. The students enjoyed an impressive and imaginative assembly centered around a

hopeful thought process that “Anything is Possible” with hard work and determination!
