The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
The Church today, and throughout this month of June, invites us to spend the month reflecting on what it really means to live our lives in such a way that we reveal the Loving Heart of a Merciful God to the whole world.
The heart is the center of a person, the place from which he/she makes the choices which will affect the world within them and around them. Devotion to the Heart of Jesus reminds us that it is in His Sacred Humanity that we find the pattern for becoming fully human ourselves. In His Incar-nation, saving life, death and Resurrection, we receive both the pattern - and the means - to be-come more like Him. The Feast of the Sacred Heart reminds us of our mission in a Culture which has forgotten God. Let us spend the month of June in Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, lifting up our Nation, indeed the whole world, to the One in whom we place all of our trust. He will not disappoint; His Heart still beats with Mercy and Love for the world.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus is celebrated on June 8.

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Our Gospel reading recounts what happened on the evening of the Last Supper. Jesus will give his life for us on the cross, so on the night before he died, he wanted to give his disciples a lasting way to remember him. Every time the bread and wine are blessed and broken at Mass and the words that Jesus said at the Last Supper are said by the priest during the Mass, they become for us the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus. When we come to Mass, it helps us to see and feel connected to Jesus. For everyone who receives Holy Communion, receiving the Body and Blood of Christ is the high point of the Mass. Holy Communion gives us strength for our faith journey. It helps us remember how much Jesus loves us and to stay grounded in the teachings of Jesus. Everyone gets the opportunity at Mass to see and feel connected to Jesus because he is present with us as the readings are read, as we pray together, and as the priest leads the Mass prayers. The Eucharist is not and was not intended to be a one-time event. It was meant to be celebrated every day. May we attend Mass on a regular basis so we can be nourished with Jesus’ Body and Blood which gives us strength for our faith journey. Ronald Szczerbiak

PARENTING POINTERS
Discipline does not mean punishment. The purpose of discipline is to help your child learn to become responsible. Allow your child to experience the consequences of their actions. If a child chooses not to study for a test, she will get a poor grade. If he leaves his bicycle out in the yard, it may get rusty or stolen. If she does not set her alarm, she
may miss school. These may seem like hard lessons, but better to learn them when the stakes are low than when losing a job or having an untimely experience might be the consequence.
