When people hurt us by their words or actions, it can be a difficult time in our lives. Sometimes the situation can be resolved easily, other times it may take a while. People’s attitude play an important part. For many of us, the tendency is to forgive and forget and move on with our lives. However, there are some, who have a hard time forgiving.

They remain stubborn and unhappy. They find it difficult to move on. They feel wronged and misunderstood. They are too upset and angry to work things out. Today in the Scriptures, Jesus describes a process of reconciliation. It involves our being respectful and loving to one another. As a community of faith, we are called to work with one another. We need to set the example for others to follow. It’s important for us to confront the evil that exists and make a change for the better. We are called to a higher standard of conduct that challenges us to go one step further in achieving peace and reconciliation among our brothers and sisters. Jesus reassures us that he will be present among us to achieve reconciliation. The question remains: Are we willing to change our behavior and strive for peace and harmony among our brothers and sisters?

Next Sunday at our 9:30am Mass, we will celebrate Catechetical Sunday. Our teachers and catechists from School and Saturday School of Religion will reaffirm their commitment to teach our students the values and importance of our faith that calls us to be examples of God’s love to one another.

Martyrs Fest is two weeks away. Raffle tickets are available after all the weekend Masses and at the Rectory during the regular business hours. Tickets are $50.00. Help to make our Fest a success.

A reminder that our Varsity Football players and cheerleaders are sponsoring a Car Wash today in the St. Louis parking lot between 9:00am until 1:00pm. Your support is appreciated.

We are looking for someone willing to call Bingo on Thursday evenings. Our present caller will be undergoing surgery and will be recuperating for a few weeks. Bingo plays a vital part in supporting the school financially. If you are interested or could help out, you are asked to call the Rectory or Maureen Larkin Revers.

Have a good week.

God Bless,

In today’s second reading Saint Paul reminds us to “love your neighbor as yourself.” He explains that by doing so we will fulfill the law – or the commandments – because “love does no evil to the neighbor.” Your love can be shared with others through kindness, respect, and help-fulness as you go through your daily routine. Remember that little things can mean a lot – for us and those around us!

PARISH LIBRARY NEWS “A Worrier's Guide to the Bible" (50 Verses to Ease Anxieties) by Gary Zimak. The author confesses in the Foreword: "I'll go out on a limb and state that, over the course of my life, I've probably worried about as many (if not more) issues than any of you." He

started worrying in second grade – so he's no amateur at the anxiety game. But he discovered with a shock one day when he started reading the New Testament, that certain quotations here and there brought him real peace. He has done our homework with this handy little book. He's researched the New Testament (mainly), and found 50 consoling sentences, like: "And we have this confidence in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." Or, "At once Jesus spoke to them, 'Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.'" Or, "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest." Each quote comes with a brief down-to-earth reflection by Zimak. Whatever our worry, "Doubt," "Confusion," "Sickness," "Fear," etc., the Gospel has an antidote.

Find our "library nook" in Martyrs' Cry Room. Take a look and take a book, before or after Masses each weekend. For more info, call Terri, at (773) 239-1041.

Mission Trip 2017 All You Need Is Love

“This being my fourth Mission Trip, Harlan still never ceases to amaze me. Of course, everyone, including me, loves the incredible sight of the mountains, the first viewing of the lake after waiting a whole year, trying not to drown at the floating orange barrier, and the challenging hike that opens up the the waterfall. But the things I love the most are the bonds and conversations I make with everyone here, learning about our homeowners, their touching stories and getting to know our carpenters, the car ride jams and late night talks, and our night reflections where everyone

talks about their day. Harlan is one of those places where I can forget about everything at home and be in complete serenity and happiness with no worries at all. Overall, this place is considered my second home and I am so thankful I am able to attend this life changing trip.” – Maddie
